I may be going to see a bike for my uncle next week providing he gets through his CBT Laughing

He's pretty set on an Aprilia RS125 (curvy shape). Looking to spend £1500 max. Yes I know I've kind of had one but I made a big mistake as I didn't know anything about bikes let alone an RS! so this time I'm a little better prepared but need some extra help.

So the usual questions really:

- What to look for?

- What's maintenance like? (as I'll being doing it most likely Neutral )

- Intervals for top end rebuild?

- Advice for him on riding a 2 stroke/RS?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Dont pay over the odds,

When going to view it check for crash damage/repair nearly every rs ive seen has been crashed, knock em down for it.. or it has replacement panels so check mounts etc.

Start the bike up let it warm for around 2 or 3 minutes, ride it not giving it any real beans until it hits around 60-65 then open it up a bit obviously you need to be weary of noises coming from the top and bottom ends.
If your going to do a proper job get hold of a compression tester and take it with you, everything else is quite explanatory and easy.

Thanks for the advice Thumbs Up

The bike he wants is actually from a dealer who seems to sell only RS125's. It's called A&K Motorcycles, funnily enough he's the one who bought my old one off ebay Laughing

So you know that he buys bikes unseen off Ebay and flogs them on at a higher price.
Take care.

weighing up performance over reliability he would be better off buying a honda nsr 125 u can pick a decent 1 up for 1500 and there is hardly anything between them performance wize exept the next day you can jump on ur nsr an do it all again unlike the rs which you will be rebuilding. . . again

He does actually prefer the NSR but I couldn't find any. I'll have a look again tomorrow

I'd advise you to take someone with mechanical knowledge, so if they test ride it, and listen to an engine, they will know by sixth sense if something sounds dodgy. Thumbs Up
