I wouldnt jailbreak an iPhone 2G, or even a 3G, they just aren't fast enough to run scripts that havent been fully optimised.

To speed it up, powercycle it whenever it feels slow, don't put too much music on it, or too many apps.

Enjoy the best made iPhone yet Razz

BTW, when i comment on 2G/3G's feeling slow when jailbroken, i own and use a 3G S. I didn't notice the slowness on my 3G when i used it, but it really depends if you've used other more recent smart phones.

Just bought an iphone 2G for the wife as a replacement for her old Motorola Razr V3 (as used by Hank Moody in Californication)

In comparison to my phone(nokia 5800) it stacks up really well for an oldish phone. The interface and menus are so pretty and slick, and once jailbroken and unlocked it became 100% cooler. The apps are great - something for everyone.
It gets a big thumb up.

Sell it and get a Droid now.

Desire
Hero
Incredible (when it comes out)

1000000x better than iphone.

The main bonus is your not owned by apple.
No need to jailbreak and make phone phail

best of both worlds ?

https://appadvice.com/appnn/2010/04/breaking-android-iphone/

dual booting an iphone into android or osx is a bit uber-geeky, quite cool though.
