I am sure people must be getting sick of threads like this but anyway. I recently sat on DaveJPS's KTM 950 supermoto (a bad idea) and realised how much I prefer that seating position to that of my hornet or any sports bike I have sat on. I am nearly 6ft 4, so it is quite cramped on the Hornet, and with two people and a bit of luggage there just isn't enough room.
I am not fussed about having a massive top end as I prefer being able to use most of the engine without ending up dead or losing my license. However I'd like for it to be comfortable at 75-85 on the motorway the 250 sits at 11,000rmp to do 80 and I just feel sorry for the engine. I want something with a bit more power than my 250 (around 35bhp).
I take my girlfriend pillion quite a bit, and the last recent use spent quite a bit of time on the motorway blasting to hers and back (60 mile round trip). Will do a bit of commuting, obviously fun twisty back roads too and the odd bit of touring (looking to do more of this in the future).
I have the idea of a 600 twin, 600 singles don't seem quite powerful enough for what I am after and I'd like a change from an inline four. Although I am not overly fussed about the engine as long as it suits what I want. Although being 20 means I probably can't afford the insurance for a 1000.
Probably have around £2000 or so to play with.
I can't think of what bike suits what I want (hence the thread) and was just wondering if people can think of anything? ____________________ Past: Honda x8rs, Honda City fly, Honda Hornet 250, Honda VFR750, Yamaha xt600e.

This sounds like the perfect bike for you! You can have it for £2000.
Seriously though, it will take you 6'4 frame and your pillion very comfortably. Its got good power, tall screen ideal for motorway use. Good for touring, great for the twisties. Insurance should be quite reasonable for you too ( i think)
Get one you wont regret it, or get mine you wont regret it

But I can't see how I'd ever be able to use that engine like I do with my hornet. I'd end up in a tree. I really enjoy being able to thrash my hornet and not be doing silly speeds. I am afraid if I got something with more than twice the power I wouldn't enjoy it as much.
I guess I need to give it a try, I will have to go and look at some dealer bikes and convince them to give me a go on some.
I think I want something different to a Hornet (so rules out fazers, sv's, bandits), but don't like the idea of a sports bike, so I want a more aggressive dual sport bike...
Maybe I am being too fussy ____________________ Past: Honda x8rs, Honda City fly, Honda Hornet 250, Honda VFR750, Yamaha xt600e.

My Dad has one which puts me off straight away. But it does seem like the right bike, although it could do with a diet and I am not a big fan of the looks... But I guess that is all stuff that could be changed.
Hmm maybe I should start some sort of project with one. ____________________ Past: Honda x8rs, Honda City fly, Honda Hornet 250, Honda VFR750, Yamaha xt600e.

You want a TDM
Matches all your criteria, I'm 6'5 and it is the most comfy bike I have ever sat on.
