I leave for rome next monday with my dad. What things might I have forgotten?
I need to photocopy all my documents still. Will I need any documents to get into france, switzerland or italy? Will my Natwest Maestro work in these countries? if so will i be charged?
Anything else is appreciated, there could be things i never even thought of...its me first trip.
cheers.

Best advice I can give is when in Rome - stay away from the Fiddlers Elbow.... it's sooooo expensive , but regularly wins competitions as having the finest kept and poured Guinness in mainland Europe.

And if you bump into an exiled Scouser called Mick Lorentz in here - tell him Graeme has moved to Derby and will be in touch shortly Very Happy

You need to carry your original documents rather than photocopies.

Your card should work in Europe, but before you leave contact your local branch of Natwest to check. When I've used my Natwest Maestro card abroad the exchange rate has been reasonable enough, I'm sure the current exchange rate is on their website if you want to know what it is.

I'd just make really good photocopies.

Agreed, the photocopies should be kept separately and are there for "insurance" if the others get nicked.

What I usually do is scan them as a pdf, print a spare set off , and then e-mail myself the pdf set of all my documents and any booking confirmations to a Gmail account.

If you lose or get the docs nicked , report it to the Police and get a confirmation slip to produce alongside the copies.

The French Police/Douane/Gendarmarie recently seem keen on checking V5's at major crossing points into Italy as allegedly that is how a lot of stolen bikes get smuggled over to Eastern Europe via the Adriatic ports.

The pain is seriously extreme! im on anti biotics and had me tetnus jab but it looks like my trip will be delayed. I am so pissed off and upset! Im now rendered useless around the house and have been sat inside on the last 2 days of gorgeous sunshine with my leg up to reduce swelling. Argh!!!!
