Was hoping the wonder that is BCF would be able to help me in my search... Thumbs Up

Im looking for a New/Used Wiring Loom for my Honda CD200 Benly. Its the TA model, operates on a 6v circuit...

I've tried googling and ebay, but to no avail. One or two places came up, but they have since been sold. Thumbs Down

Does anyone know where I could find one? Does anyone specialise in this sorta thing?

Karma for help, and cold hard cash for the actual item... Mr. Green

Cheers guys

Jack

If locating a loom is proving to be such a pain then why don't you simply fabricate one yourself?

Confused

How simple is this? Bearing in mind, I have no experience in electrics...

How much would it cost for the bits, and how long would you expect it to take, for a noob... Smile

Cheers again

It isn't as difficult as you are probably imagining. If you read Stinkwheel's How to join wires guide in the Workshop Guides and Handy Links section of this forum then you will quickly realise that wiring need not be frightening and that it is something that can be mastered with ease. A loom is simply a number of individual wires of differing colours and lengths all neatly wrapped up in either non-adhesive PVC harness tape or self-adhesive fleece harness tape.
The initial outlay need not be huge if you obtain the items from an auto electrical supplier (avoid places like Halfords). If you are going to be around bikes long term then any tools and electrical sundries that you purchase now will almost certainly prove to be a good investment, provided that you buy decent quality products.
Best of luck.

Ok, when you put it like that, it doesn't sound as daunting... Smile

I have been around bikes most of my life, but have always looked at electrics as the sort of thing that needed professional attention, I've replaced lights, coils, etc, but have never played with the actual wiring... Maybe this could be the begining of new adventures... Very Happy

Cheers for your help, I'll look through the threads you mentioned.

I figure if I remove the old loom 1st, I'll be able to see exactly what I need for the new one, and kind of copy it...

Ill give the search engines one last going over, and if nothing comes up, I'll be on my way to Halfords... Mr. Green

Luckily, I dont need the bike for another 3months, ish. So this gives me plenty of time to figure things out. Expect regular updates when things go wrong... Laughing

Cheers Raffles

thats the idea - copy the loom

BUT are you sure you need to go that far?

How bad is the old loom? Are you replacing only just because there is an electrical problem?

Well, the bike is 30yrs old, and I feel that with a little love and attention, it'll be good for another 30...

Its always had some electrical niggles, but since being put away during the first sunny day of the year, (rolled the gixer out... Mr. Green ), its having none of it.

Wont fire, Lights are dull/intermitent, Horn does not work, Indicators stay on intead of blinking, and some moron has had a fiddle with the loom at somepoint, causing at least one wire to overheat/melt... Evil or Very Mad

However, as most parts for this bike are cheap, I was planning on replacing most things.

I've already replaced:
Arrow Battery
Arrow Spark Plugs
Arrow HT Leads
Arrow Coil

I still need to check the points thou...

Whats your take on it all? Karma

Cheers
