Just installed new cylinder and got the parts on the head changed over to the new head by garage for free since they love me there.
Need to go and grab some flange nuts for the head to fit the head on properly now and then buy some hose clips and new tubing for radiator but after that what should I do to run in this new 70 bore kit.

The garage told me to upjet my carb from 98 to 100 or to drop the ring on the needle down one notch but wasn't too sure about the needle thing.

What do you guys think sound right or anything else I need to do?

in terms of upjetting i not sure, but i reckon you'll need a new jet rather than changing the pin postition.

running in, i would let it idle and warm up then switch it off a few times. then take it out for a slow run. let it cool down every time. each run gradually increase your revs untill you made it through the rev range and let it cool down each time.

its about letting the metal expand and contract until it reaches its comfortable position. ragging it too early may cause it to warp or over heat and seize. just take it easy.

Cheers steven, i'll make sure I do that. At the moment im trying to move the clip on the needle from the middle on third down to the fourth slot so new cylinder can get another petrol etc but just can seem to move the clip down, no idea how to do it, trying to release it and move it down like I would with a piston ring...

Edit: don;t worry i managed to yank it off, was scared of breaking it!

will normally have to change jet for more fuel, as keeping same jet and moving needle at full throttle will probs be lean.

you could probably move needle and run it in like this as you'll only use part throttle, then change jet once run in.

Cheers daveg, was going to go around the block on it after idling and letting it cool down a few times and then check plug to check the colour and see if I can get away with that otherwise its time for a 100 jet I suppose. Didn't think going from 98 to 100 would of made much difference though.

should be fine at part throttle, as changing needle means more petrol with less throttle.
i know people that put new pistons in and open it up as they believe that it stops bores shining up, each to there own.
i have always wore in properly

do a plug test. clean the plug, take it for a ride then check the colour of it. theres pictures of lean/rich/perfect mixtures on the net to compare it to.

if its lean, bigger jet, too riich, make it smaller.... i think.
