Didn't they used to be any convictions in the past 5 years?

I've been on the phone to two companies in the last hour and both have asked have I had any motoring convictions in the past 11 years?

Has this changed or something?

Drink driving is on your licence for 11 years, so there trying to find that out I would assume!

Took my insurance out a few weeks ago - they asked me 5 years

Did my insurance with MCE about 6 months ago, and was only asked for 3-5 years

Are there any rules/regulations that states how many years history of convictions insurance companies have to ask about, or is it something that is decided by each insurance company individually?
