Hi guys, just wanted your opinion on this: 'Camp Ready' Bed

I'll be using it every other month for long weekend camps, I though combining the two would possible save some space?

Nah false economy, and invariably when your sleeping bag stinks for some reason you won't be able to wash it easily.

Airbeds are also kind of bouncy, you don't really need to save space on a bike anyway, unlike me where I slept on my clothes in Siberia.

Get thee one of those £20 thermarests they pack up to the size of a flask and a 2-3 season bag not much bigger.

I always think things like this are a bit of a gimmick, and i wouldn't expect the airbed or the sleeping bag to be very good quality. You can get airbeds for about a tenner and you could get a far better sleeping bag than the one thats attatched to this Argos all in one bed, which is also only a 300 gsm which is summer use only.
I bet the packsize is big also.
I do actually prefer sleeping on an airbed than a self inflating mat, but if an airbed punctures, as they do easily, then you are sleeping on the ground. A self inflating mat will still give you some comfort even if it punctures.

Get a 3/4 size one to save even more space (who really needs a cushion for the feet?!)

Be wary of cheap airbeds. Thermarest sounds like a better option.

I'm just going to take this moment to plug Alpkit's range of mats. Cheaper than thermarest, more bomb proof than Gelert.

And I'm not even on commission!

Cheers for input fellas. Think I'm gonna get a thermarest one when I've got a bit more cash spare. I'm gonna go and get one of those aldi specials tomorrow though, should do for the GP!

Another vote for alpkit - I have a 'fat airic', now replaced by the 'dozer'. While bigger than others, it can still pack fairly small. I strap it on to the outside of the bike in a waterproof bag - and it's by far the most comfortable camping may I've used.
I use mine inside my big agnes sleeping bag - it slips inside a special 'pocket' so you can't roll off it.

Yeah mine is a bit bulky, i wouldnt mind a smaller one.

Very comfy though.

Salty off here had a 3/4 gelrt one that looked good.

I use mine a bit like a 3/4 in that i dont have the bottom of the mat by my feet, but by my bum.

I then roll up the top bit by my head as a pillow.

Tempted to get one. About the same size as the equivalent Vango rolled out and packed, but cheaper and with an extra 1.5cm of thickness.

That looks identical to the Gelert X-treme mat just rebranded. I think they're fine but others seem to disagree.

I bought the Gelert 3/4. Got one for £22 delivered off eBay. Ordered yesterday and arrived today. I'll write a review on it tomorrow after I sleep on it tonight Thumbs Up
