All it gets you is representation by a no win no fee solicitor.

If you need a solicitor it would be a sensible idea to choose one who is a specialist in your type of claim and/or injury. Choosing one because they started a face book group 'giving away' something that's free to start with isn't a very good idea. Rolling Eyes

Any questions just ask

Isn't the sort of thing just a scam?

Seeing that insurance companies I'm told can make more money from selling claims to no win no fee companies than from the insurance policy it's self; it seems that any such systems are just designed to lock people in to using a specific set of solicitors you can get commission from.

If this is wrong, could you point out my lack of understanding.

Basically, that's it.

Insurers charge X amount for the policy, then sell claims off to the highest bidder.

The only problem with that is that the solicitor appointed to you could be a 'specialist' in conveyancing but makes a few quid running RTA's and Industrial Injury files etc...

You never know who you are going to have running your case, nor do you know how often your file will be looked at, as most file handlers working with insurers run case-loads of 300-400 at any one time.

You can read on MCN about riders who have gone with the holding company they were passed through to, only for the case to be run very badly and very slowly and for their bike to be smashed up by the careless company.

Charging for the legal expense cover is a scam, but a scam that many many people fall for. After years of speaking to people who were still paying upwards of £25 for a worthless piece of paper and telling them time and time again that they do not need it (only to be ignored), British Bike Claims decided to write up a policy and dish it out free.

People went crazy for it, as they physically had something that cost them nothing, which people tend to trust. Anything to stop people dishing out their hard earned for nothing.

This way if you have an off on your bike, you speak to real bikers about it, have the case run by bikers who only work with bike cases and can feel safe in the knowledge that your solicitor knows what he/she is doing.

If you don't want to run the claim through British Bike Claims, you are free to run with whomever you please and you are still not £25 - £100 out of pocket.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

So on that, your offer of 'free insurance' is presumably a scam too?

As it means you are profiting from a free service by hoping to 'lock' people into using a selection of companies you profit from.

Why would/should anyone need to sign up for your 'legal insurance cover' before they have an accident - surely you would offer just as good service if they contacted you when they had an accident.
Yet by getting people to sign up first, it appears you are hoping to restrict their choice and ensure they make you commission.

From my current point of view; educating that 'LEC' is a scam - educational; offering the same service - scam.
