Well, i've always been interested in getting into photography as a hobby, and met my girlfriend, who is into it as is her mum... both of them winning competitions and the like, she's kind of encouraging me to get myself a camera and see how it works out...

She said that a mini style digital camera would be best for me, since i'll probably mount it on the bike at some point too, but it would need to be a high quality camera.

This is one she took of me, i quite like it... she's got one of them big bulky ones with super high quality and loads of features though...

Now, my dilema is which camera type i should buy.

I'll most likely have it slapped under the seat on the bike so it can't be a really expensive one as i don't want to risk damaging it due to vibrations....

Gimme some advice on what i should do....

The kind of pics i'll be taking will be landscapes and the like, pics of the bike which i can edit, and generally just recording my experiences.

Any comments appreciated... Just want to do something interesting with my free time once i get another bike.

Panasonic TZ-10

Dads got the TZ-5, and as compact cameras go, its really good, got a great zoom, good focal length, colour reproduction is nice, makes really good photos, would be fine for biking and landscape etc.

Records HD Movie, and has a built in GPS so you know where you took the shots too. Perfect for trips.

Also can get a £30 cashback from Panasonic.

Might be out of your price range though. If you put it in a nice case, i wouldn't worry about vibrations etc damaging it.

That's what i'm looking for, something like that.

Price aint too important (just don't see the point in spending £600+ on a high spec camera to start with), that seems a decent price for what it is...

Cheers Thumbs Up

Hmmmm, if you want compact with quality for getting into it maybe a four-thirds cam like the olympus pen.

Your wife interested in er... photographs, eh? Know what I mean? Photographs, 'he asked him knowingly'.
Photography?
Yes. Nudge nudge. Snap snap. Grin grin, wink wink, say no more?
Holiday snaps?
Could be, could be taken on holiday. Could be yes - swimming costumes. Know what I mean. Candid photography. Know what I mean, nudge nudge.

She said it makes her feel warm.
She lives in the middle of nowhere in a cottage on a farm, so it's cold.... If i had it my way it'd be painted white then graffitti'd on.

My camera is pretty nifty...its a Praktica 3.1 DC Slim...cost me £22 from PCWorld. Had it a couple of years now...takes decent photos, not the best at night shots, but it does the job for my needs.

I take it everywhere with me because it's so small. Thumbs Up
