Well that's what it feels like... so if you've seen some of my other posts you'll know I've been doing a DAS but had my first and second tests cancelled

So my 3rd time lucky was yesterday... or maybe not so lucky!

Arrived at test centre in good time, got radioed up, answered the questions with ease and off we went. Flew round the U turn and emergency stop and generally had a good ride (did think I'd failed the whole way through tho). Anyway, we get back to the test centre and my examiner says, "I'm sorry Peat, I'm going to have to fail you....".

Peat: "Oh, go on, what did I do?"

Exam: "Well you rode for 90% of the test with your brake light on."

Peat: *ponders* [normally I don't make use of my back brake enough, not the other way round - must've been nerves]

Peat: "Okay guv, you got me, I'll sort that out for next time."

Exam: "Otherwise a great ride, sorry. See you later."

-Outside test centre Peat vents his frustration using many 4 letter words and smoking 16 Marlborough Lights within the space of 10 minutes

Anyway, to cut a long story short we ride back to London (from Wheybridge) and when we get stopped at traffic lights (after about 15 miles) on the A3 another student pulls alongside, "Peat, your brake light has been on since we left the test centre - THE WHOLE WAY". Things begin to fall into place now...

... so we arrive at Metropolis Motorcycle training, and when I drop the bike into the lockup, get off with ignition left on, guess what, yes the fucking brake light is still on and I'm nowhere near the fucking motorbike!

To cut a long story short Metropolis said they would pay for a retest if I paid for bike hire... "I DON'T THINK SO! I have to take another day off work to take a test I would have passed today because your bike was faulty! you're paying for it all"

And they are... sorry for the long story... JUST LET ME ON THE FUCKING ROADS...

Next test 30the July!

Thats very unluckey. Get the leaarner company to pay for all of it, and i'd expect a big appology, or some vouchers (or such like) for all the trouble they caused you.

That is very bad on their part, seeing as the bike was not even roadworthy... terrible.

Sorry to hear that Peat, good luck with your re-test. Which Metropolis was it? Please don't say Vauxhall, I'm doing my DAS on 21-23 July with them. If so, I'll have to keep an eye out for that bike.

That's a bummer, but at least you know you can pass easily on the 30th

How annoying. Still, at least you stood your ground and have got it sorted. Really they should offer to compensate you for having to take another day off work (holidays are precious things!!)

That is very unlucky and annoying.

When you book your re-test try and avoid Weybridge, there is one particular examiner who is unfair IMO and that of others (tall, skinny bloke in his 40's btw).

ohh poor you!! Bet you were really gutted! At least you know that there was nothing wrong with your riding!

Good luck next time and I would laos insist for the compensation on having to take another day off holiday and for the cost of the test!

That is a typical "Mum" feature! When I first suggested to mine I was going to take the test she suggested that I shouldn't, that it is not important and if I really want to go for a ride to find a man with a bike (Both my father and brother are bikers).

When I failed first time she though I was giving up and didn't sound too upset.

When I failed the second time she really gave me a hard time for wanting to try again .... I guess she is also praying a bit too hard!

Just take her for a ride to show her what a good and safe rider you are!

Oh dear jesus... I can't think of anything worse than my mum perched on the back of my bike.... I love her dearly but she's about 5'4" and about the same across. She has vertigo and isn't the most steady on her feet!
