Hi, ive got down on my insurance for my sv650 that i have an oxford monster lock. When they sent me the mechanical security declaration form to sign, i noticed on it that it said they can request sight of a receipt at any time? As i dont have the receipt for the lock, my question is if my bike did get stolen and the lock with it, would they try and avoid payout by that fact that i have no receipt to prove i actually have the lock? I can't say what they would do but insurers like to wriggle out of paying when possible. Plenty of people do not keep receipts (or not for long) so them being able to ask to see it at any time is bollox. Take a pic of the lock on the bike (proves you have a lock!) and a close-up pic showing the lock's model number or serial number if you can.

to be perfectly honest i recon a recipt for the item would make sense but at the end of the day its getting pretty damn finicky Neutral

Wonder when these companies are going to cut some slack, it'll get to the point where there wont be any point having anything more comprehensive than TPO cuz they might just come up with a get out for everything eventually...

Careful imo.

Ts&Cs, a contract. You're agreeing to it in it's entireity.

Doesn't mean it's allowed/legal for them to do it, but insurers are not fun to argue the toss with when they're holding on to money rightfully and morally yours. Ask a 3rd party like the FSA?

slightly off topic, but if your bike was stolen from outside your house WITHOUT that lock on, even though you've told them that you use it, would they pay out?

Personally contact the Ins co and ask them.....

If you tell them that you no longer have the reciept, then they will be able to advise you.
