Idea's for my next Bike.

Looking at getting shot of my XJR, it's a great bike but I'm planning on doing a few more longer runs this year and fancing a sports tourer type bike, comfort is my main issue (I've had a go on gsxr6/r6 and a few other sports bikes and found them like riding a plank of wood). I've had a zzr6 before and might consider one of them, maybe a thundercat or I've been told the zx9 is a more comfortable ride than most sports bikes. I'm looking for idea's on others to consider for between £1500-2k.

I'm looking at a good distance bike that's ok for taking a piilion occasionally and a bit better on the twisties than the xjr even if it isn't as quick in a straight line.

Any idea's peeps???

Panniers ain't that important tbh, if it doesn't fit in one bag I don't need it.

A quick look on ebay and there's only one on there which doesn't look to bad apart from the shitty seat hump which isn't a big problem, added to my maybe list for trying out cheers.

It looks to much like the ugly f*5ker they put on the busa for me and I use the pillion for picking the misses up from work and the daughters school run to be arsed taking it on and off so it'd end up in the shed.

I think a 9r would be a good bet. Should be able to pick a decent example up for your budget too.

Remember riding position can be fairly easily altered - saw someone I knew at Rockingham that had added some expensive clip ons to her bike which were VERY adjustable so she had a shorter reach.

They had a decent amount of adjustability to allow most reasonable riding positions. Ok, they cost £300 - but that's a hell of a lot cheaper on top of a GSXR say, than trying to make a VFR800 up to the other good qualities the GSXR has.

When I was looking for my commuter, saw one with streetfighter style bars that had kept the fairing.

Anyway, as stock you may well find the zx9 a good choice and should be easily in budget for a reasonable one.

it wasn't just the riding position on the gsxr, it may have just been the bike I rode but I didn't feel at all comfortable on it, it was to hard to much of a forward position and heavy on my forearms. It felt like riding a plank of wood although the footpegs were very high even if they were lower I wouldn't have been that keen on it.

I'm gonna try and find a zx9,thundercat and a tlr to see how comfortable they are for me.
