It's my mum's birthday on saturday and she's gone to up north for 3 days, so as a surpride for when she gets home I'm painting all of her downstairs rooms Very Happy

I'm about halfway through the living room, and starting to think it was actually a crap idea and she'll most likely moan Laughing but i don't care, its the thought that counts Cool

Anyone had or given any odd surprise birthday presents?

On my Mum's birthday last year, my Dad had asked her what she wanted. In typical fashion, she replied 'Oh, nothing much, don't make a big fuss'.
My Dad got her nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not even a card.
He couldn't quite work out why she was so pissed off with him.

Dangerous territory there mate. If your old budge is anything like mine then she will go beserk!!

Nice idea, but when the colours that match everything else suddenly don't match anymore... Ooooh bad times.

Good present, long as you know what colours to get for her in case she fancied some wall paper this year etc. But useful . I like presents like this only I never get anything like this I get smelly cheap perfume despite telling poeple I gate perfume especially ones that you can smell across the street of middle ages ladies who make you gag.

I Got my dad the title of Lord for his birthday, thought it was funny. I got one for myself "lady" just because I had to and it was on offer Laughing

I generally give presents that the receiver has at some point mentioned they'd quite like, or talked about in conversation...usually little but meaningful gifts...things that mean a lot to them. Rarely unusual though.

our house was last painted 7 years ago when I brought the ceiling down (stood on the drain hole in the shower by accident, which overfilled it and it leaked and turned the ceiling to mush Embarassed ) and we had the living room repainted in some shade of yellow, but it has slowly been bleached and is now almost brown =/ I've gone for a really bright yellow, really lightened the room up lol

the kitchen is magnolia, but some of the lining paper was ripped off by our old parrot, so I'm changing it to pale biscuit Thumbs Up

I think I might be moving away for a few days just in case she doesn't like it Laughing most of the way round, but still need to do a second coat, so might go out and get a roller (currently on a 100mm brush)

pics up soon, just want to finish the last 1 1/4 wall Smile

Yeh, its what I had in the cupboard lol I spent literally the last £35 I had from wages on the paint, i have literally nothing left until I get some of my birthda cheques cashed (should be done by next week)

Mum came home about half an hour ago, and she loved it, was really impressed and didn't say much Very Happy just wish I had had enough time to do the 2 hallways, dining room and kitchen though
