I'd definately have to recommend a 2 stroke
Its the only way of generating any power out of little engines like that, and if a 4stroke 125 with a 16 stone chap sat on it was presented with a hill, i wouldn't be suprised if the bike started rolling backwards lol
For better mpg and reliability i'd say 4stroke, but only skinny chas can get away with small 4 strokes, it'd have to be a 2stroke for the guy in question |

I suspected as much, although I'm biased as an RXS owner
Kawasaki KH125, Yamaha RXS100 and Suzuki GP100 are all pretty solid bikes aren't they? ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

That's not all that hard from what I've heard about the NSR Have a friend who owned one about 10 years ago and had no end of problems with it. That and the insurance being much higher than a commuter 2 stroke is enough reason to stay away
That said, I would quite like to own an NSR as a second/third bike at some point in my life... ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

I've never really had any major problems with it it's just my lack of maintanence lol. I'm taking more care of it now but I know if I toured on it that as soon as I got to France and the ferry left that my engine would go bang.
I love my NSR and don't think I could actually sell it. ____________________ Current: Honda Nsr 125

what's all this about unreliable nsr's? i think if you look after them (use castrol tts, change rings every 8000mls etc) you won't have any issues, i got mine as a non runner 6 months ago and after 2 days work to get running have had no single problem with it using it every day as a commuter and after its warmed up i don't treat it gently, in fact i would go as far as to say i rag the crap out of it. I also am around the 100kg/15.5 stone mark (tall not fat!) look on www.125ccsportsbikes.com at the nsr section general consensus is that the nsr is the most reliable 2 stroke around ____________________ Pitslayer wrote "it could be Ndubz.....ruining this once great place with donkey gobbling loafer knobbing "music".

For the NSR's?
I'll put it this way, I'm thinking of buying an old 600cc engine to play with cuz my NSR hasnt missed a heart beat (and thats considering the abused state i got it, valve fixed open etc, was probably ragged to crap )...
That being said, as much as i could never let my NSR go really, am to happy with it, i could live without the extra monkey for insurance and 2t oil prices!

GP100s aren't tough. Motors don't last well, and the cycle parts are even worse than usual commuter fare. Can be tuned to go much faster than the chassis and brakes can handle, which is quite good fun, in between pistons shattering.
KH100 is really tiny - like a 50. The 125 is a good bike, pretty tough, but very prone to electrical problems in wet weather.
RXS100 - immensely tough workhorse, capable of easily carrying 25-30 stone (ideally as two people, rather than one ginormous fat bastard ). More reliable than any of the 4 strokes. Simplicity itself. Ideal to learn on, commute on, tour the Urals, learn the basics of home maintenance and rack up ridiculous mileage, so long as you're au fait with the Yam's quirks and foibles.
Can only be one choice really. Not that I'm biased or anything ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |
