Hi All,

Apologies if this is a stupid question, i need to change the clocks on a YBR 125, do i need to notify the DVLA or similar as the mileage obviously won't tally with the MOTs etc?

Hi

No, you don't need to inform them.

Just don't tell anyone you are selling the bike to that the new mileage is the genuine mileage.

I imagine that the answer to this question will be the same as the answer that Keith gave to the first question.
Just be honest with any prospective purchaser and do not try to deceive as checking mileage history isn't difficult.

If people can roll the mileage back, surely they can roll it forwards too?

I always wondered this when the dealer replaces a damaged clock, surely they must put the right mileage on it?

I think that they simply have to state that the mileage cannot be guaranteed.

Certainly thats the case with cars, so I'd assume it's the same for bikes too.
As long as the dealer states that the "mileage cannot be guaranteed", it's down to the buyer to check and make a decision before buying... a.k.a. caveat emptor ?!
