I can get a decent download rate on my local McDonalds WiFi. I'll just make a list and find the stuff I want at home, then go leech whilst I have some breakfast there. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

That is one report of the case. I can't find the one I read sometime last week. I did find another snippet though:
"The labels are seeking compensatory damages as well as punitive damages against the Limewire Corporation of at least $150,000 per song traded using Limewire’s software" |

I quite regularly download a film or an album, I don't go out and buy them because although I know it's 'wrong', I'm quite stingy, and so I won't pay for something if I can get it free, I was quite interested to see how people were going to get around it, as I'm sure they will. It said on the article I read that they know they'll never catch the hardcore downloaders with it, they were just aiming to stop the 'soft underbelly' of illegal downloaders, i.e. the thousands of teenagers who do it because it's easy, and they can, when they have no idea how it works and haven't heard of the law. Quite sneaky in my opinion to catch people they know won't have heard about the law, I guess that's why you get the warning letters. |
