Kickstart shaft on rxs 100

Anyone are to shed some gems on how to do this bastard of a job?

The haynes simply says "replacement is the reverse of removal" ie Good Luck... Confused

Obviously I can put the shaft in the bike but getting it so that the various latchy bits all in the right place has defeated me for now.

There's a knack to it. There's a rounded bit of spring that engages in a slot, and the open end which goes into a hole (under tension). The rounded bit always moves slightly on removal. Putting it back like that means that the kickstart drive cog can't disengage. It's not easy to explain how to do it really. But essentially you need to twist the rounded bit slightly and keep retrying until eventually the kickstart cog is fully in the disengaged position, almost touching the crankcase. Fiddle about a bit and it will soon become obvious.
