My village shop has a shoe donation bin outside to buy wheelchairs for little kiddies, which currently has a pretty tasty pair of bike boots in my size and good condition sitting in it.

I feel bad for thinking about it, but would you take them?

Charity shops? Not sure to be honest, maybe they take them apart and sell them as recycling stuff

Was thinking they would be for shoeless people in 3rd world countries but im not sure how the end result would be wheelchairs

Surely, if its for wheelchair bound kids, they won't be needing bike boots, they'll only get recycled, get em taken, at least you'll get some use out of them.

Here's what you do to save face.

Climb into the bin, put the boots on. Lie upside down so only the boots can be seen. When they come to empty it, pretend like you had a rough night and were just having a wee sleep.

They will assume they boots were yours all along.

If not that, steal someone elses motorcycle boots, make a scene of putting them in the bin then loudly say; "oh no they're not the ones I wanted to recycle!!" Reach back in and take out the boots you really want.

There's always a way.
