PostPosted: 13:55 - 09 Jun 2010    Post subject: Anyone ridden an RSV4 Factory? Reply with quote

Im thinking of going to my local Aprilia dealer and trying out an RSV4 Factory with the intention of probably buying one! I was just wondering if anyone has tried one out and what they think of it? The reviews say it is a bit heavier and a bit lower powered then my CBR, but its just looks like so much fun, where as the CBR is a little boring. Im after something that turns like a 600, and is good fun, they also look fantastic aswell!

If anyone has ridden one can you let me know if you think its worth trying out?

Thanks, Sam

Because I want the power of a 1000cc bike, or else I would just get a 600.

The CBR is just a bit boring, nice bike, handles well, very fast, just a little boring!

^^ Had a go on one, hated it, thought it was shite!

I want full fairing bike, that's as good as/better then my CBR.

Pretty much the ONLY bike I really want is an RSV4 Factory.

My mate had the last RSVR factory, he said it was brilliant, but razor sharp and crap for anything other than hooning, he said it was the worst commuter ever. I imagine the rsv4 will be the same.

Don't get me wrong, the BMW is a great bike, but my friends got one, he said it rides like the Honda, very easy to get on with, and a good everyday bike, but he also says its boring. To be honest, I'm going to test a BMW aswell, as I might love it to bits, but the bike that really appeals to me is the RSV4 Factory, it looks like it will have pin sharp handling, and be a bit of a hooligan bike!

Have you thought about a non sports bike? I like the look of the Hypermotard SPS? About 100bhp stock but if you are willing to fork out the extra 2k on an exhaust system and the race cams that bumps it up by 20 bhp I think.

I am seriously considering getting one, they are brilliant to sit on, you don't see any of the bike just the road.

Personaly I think I would find a Fireblade boring too, a bike need character that alot of the time a super power engine destroys, some of the most powerful bikes I have ridden have been the most boring.

I DEFINETLY want a sports bike. Iv'e ridden plenty of SM style bikes and they are really not my cup of tea!

I know what your saying about character, which is why I'm looking at the RSV4, Italian styling, with a V4, can't get much more character!

I'd rather the 1098s personally, or a MV.

The Duc would be easy to get parts for and I reckon it has a better engine (no idea just a feeling), the MV is just exotic.

The problem is, anyone that's already got one, is probably going to be a bit biased, I really wanted an opinion from someone that doesn't have one, but has ridden one!

To be fair it's not been out long enough for any real faults to show themselves. Also, you'll either hear the opinions of people that A) Still have one and think it's awesome or B) Sold it because they hated it. You won't have anyone that's had it for years and fancied a change who could tell you both the pros and cons.

Tried a 1098s before I bought the blade, and really didn't get on with it!

Just checked on RSVZone and it seems quite a few people have gone from the Blade to the RSV4, they are all saying how much more fun it is, sounds good to me!

Worth 0.5 of a second once you've optimised for your trip to the shops. Wink

Go for it if you like it. They do look and sound rather nice. If it handles anything like the old Mille's it'll be awesome.

sounds like you want the bike for its looks and image... which i wouldn't say equates to it not being "boring"

if you think the blade and the bimmer are unexciting because of their easy to use nature, then pretty much any new sports bike will be like that as that's how then are designed now days,

a wild beast of a bike is hard to make go around a track fast
(eg dukes ex gp bike)
so one that is easy for a rider to get on with is more desirable for the job
(racing platform)
so imo going older rather then newer would be the place to search for thrills

Probably because Aprilia will know when they're onto a good thing, so it's unlikely that they'd mess with that too much. Everyone I know who's ridden a Factory RSV-R has said it's the best handling bike they've ever ridden. I would think the RSV4 is going to be very similar.
