right i am 16 i have got some cash and i want to buy myself a moped right.
But could somebody give me some advice on which bike to get i was looking at the apprilia RS but they are way out of my budget but anyway i would like a bike instead of a scooter proberbly geared

DONT BUY FROM DIRECT BIKES!!!!!!! I cant stress that point more.
If you get it second hand its usually cheaper and the engine works as good as it can. With a new one you have to break the engine in (usual 200-400 miles usually does it).

2 stokes are faster with acceleration and tend to do better up hill but you have to fill it with oil and fuel on a regular basis.

4 strokes are slower on the acceleration but top speed wise are about the same and can do better on steep hills.

You can get geared 50cc scrambler, motard and sports bikes but there arent the most reliable machines so i have been told, but tend to be more fun and are generally faster thatn automatic peds.

you can easily afford a rs for 900,if you look hard enough

if i had the chance to be 16 again,i'd get a dtr instead of the rs50

Careful of RS's.

2 Friends bought them (125's but still)

£800 and £1200, both have had seized engines, and they didn't just abuse them.

I'd look at either a Speedfight or Aerox, or some form of Jap 50.

When they have a oil bottle and will be trying to mix the oil and fuel themselves? Thus the oil light always being on and the engine not getting enough fuel/oil mixture.

tut...

put oil in the fuel tank so its already mixed with the petrol to ignite in the cylinder and lube everything.

totally bypassing the oil pump so it doesn't fail,the only other way to seize them is ragging the shit out of them from cold.

Because the bike is TRYING to mix whatevers coming from the Oil pump (Air, which will probably make it fail anyway) and whats coming from the Fuel Line, at whatever ratio that mixes at, but as it won't be getting any oil, the bike will be running super lean, and not getting the lubrication it needs, which is almost as bad as running without any oil at all.[/quote]

omg you're so thick.

the oil pump is toke off,the hole where the oil used to come out is blocked so air can't get in.

the premix is like at a 37:1 ratio.THIS IS YOUR OIL MIXTURE THAT LUBES IT.

If you haven't realised this yet i don't know what will.

how will it run lean if its got oil in the fuel ? it would probably run rich than anything.

get a 2 stroke,there win at 50c.

Most 2 stroke tools (chainsaws, disc cutters etc) are run on premix at a ratio of 50-1 (50 parts petrol to 1 part oil) just dandy.

There's no real reason why you could not run a bike on premix and disconnect the oil pump, it would be lubricated pretty much as effectively. The only problem is ensuring that you get the correct ratio when you fill up with petrol, which could be a pain in the ass.

Ok firstly, you never mentioned disconnecting the oil pump and blocking the hole.

Secondly, why would anyone on the road want the hassle of premix?

Thirdly, i do own a 50cc 2 Stroke.
