I've lost my audio hardware...

After my computer wouldn't go past the windows loading screen because of constantly being interrupted by the BSOD and restarting no matter what mode i try (including safe mode + variants) i decided to reinstall windows and format my C Drive in the process (OS was too corrupted to repair)

now i have no audio hardware installed and cant hear anything besides system beeps...

ideas?

Download and install the sound drivers for your card.

Have a look in Device Manager for some yellow exclamation marks.

Ok, so after digging around in my pile of CDs in my laptop bag... i've found all but one of the drivers and reinstalled them..

its just the PCI driver im missing... currently in the middle of a mass download of XP updates at the moment..

Im running XP service pack 2 atm... soon to be SP3 when its finished updating..

You should really install all your hardware drivers as well, especially chipset and graphics cards.

Yes and don't use the one's from the CD as they will be way old and out of date. Go trawling through the various manafacturers websites and download the latest versions for better stability and performance.
