It definitely does need to be revved though it doesn't feel like it and from something like a cg will probably feel like it has incredible 'pull'.
The reality is that all the bikes you list are a bit bland - I'd suggest considering something like a ZX6R J model if you want a good mixture of 'pull' and screamyness.
However, to some degree it seems a waste to miss that middle step - when I first got my KLR650 coming from a NS125 it felt amazingly quick.
Riding a similar bike now I'd feel I really have to work it get any proper speed out of it  . |

yerr its a real pain at 17 being able to choose a exciting bike and be able to pay for it aswell.
whats the riding position like on the sv and for commuting ? if you've rode one that is

I don't usually use my SV for commuting, I use a CBR125. Mine is all city and/or different parts of. The 125 excels in the city, the faired SV is a minor pain, but probably no different than commuting on any similar sports bike. Oh I can get there faster, and the extra acceleration at the lights is beautiful, but pottering round the crappy back streets of inner city shite it doesn't feel too good. Visibility wise, the mirrors have huge black holes of blind spots where cars just disappear, and my mirrors are extended by an inch or so. The naked SV may not suffer this due to a more upright riding position.
If you've got any motorway work or NSL roads then its great. Cruise at 80, 95 without breaking a sweat and the wind blast keeps the weight off your wrists.
If you've bad knees you may get a cramp from the higher footpegs if you're on it for a good few hours. After about 8 hours on the bike my shoulders get really tired and then 30mph bumpy roads are not fun. My SV has upgraded front fork springs and heavier fork oil so a stock one might feel a bit different.
Fuel wise, if you mostly use the 5,000-6,000 rpm range you can get 14 miles per litre (when I was counting it), which is about 63mpg. I can get about 195-205 miles per tank with the reserve light solid on (less than a litre left). Usually the reserve light starts flashing about 155 miles or so. The flashing reserve light may bug you as it can be distracting.
Someone on here said they got 80 miles per tank, but I'm guessing they blast the shit out of it.

SV is 'ok' for commuting. I had a faired one which I commuted on (and two I raced). Felt the position was a little too 'perched' on the faired one for daily use, but you do get used to it.
As I say, in the grand scheme of things it's a dull boring bike, but it's all about the perspective and I expect from yours it will be fine for most things .
If you want to improve the handling, that can be cheaply achieved.
The engine is never going to have the 'sparkle' of a sports bike to me, but that can also be good for keeping the speed down. |

There's a comfort kit, with bar risers if you find the bars too low, or convertibars for full adjustability. The pegs you can lower, adapting Buell XB rider pegs or another kit to drop the pegs by an inch or so.
60 miles is nothing, you'll be fine. Also, I'm an old tw@, so the riding position may not feel so cramped if you're young.

Had 07 pointy, and couldn't fit anything under the seat... hell I had to buy wraps instead of sandwiches for lunch or they wouldn't fit. Was a nightmare just wedging the Scottoiler in there because of that idiotic positioning of the black box thingy.
05 Fazer isn't much better, still can't put a normal supermarket sandwich underneath as it gets squashed, really poor, Fireblades have more space under the seat!
In terms of riding SV is really sporty, and I'm not alone in it killing my wrists and then knees while commuting. You can fit risers or the bars off the naked but that doesn't help much and you're still left with the really forward, high-knees position (seems to be a Suzuki thing, the Blandit is the same). Would easily do a ("perfectly legal" -Ed.) speed two-up but the pillion seat is reportedly really uncomfortable. It does make a really nice noise, though.
The Fazer (mine's an 05 so isn't the FZS) by contrast is far more upright, more comfortable, you get a better view and don't get to work in agony. Does a fair old pelt if you ask it to as well. Noise isn't as grunty but it's still pleasing. Overall I'd say it's the better machine.
Definitely come to the .org if you get an SV, though half of us don't even have SVs any more!
