was facing the speed camera!

Was coming home from work, doing about 40mph on a 30 zone, there was a speed camera on the other side and it went off as I passed Confused

Wonder what happens in this case.

Note: I was on my lane, not overtaking.

I don't suppose they look on other roadside CCTV to get a pic of your plate and then combine that with the pic of you going too fast to build a case?

Too much effort I think.

I remember reading that no cameras are currently approved for head on speed recording. Something to do with the flash being distracting. Although there may be some "Blue light" or similar name being trialled.

So unless they got you using an approved head-on speed camera, I don't think they'd be able to use the evidence in court. Although that wont stop them waiting on that road with a gun and getting you that way... It's happened before.

Nope, I got done in my car back in '06 by a forward facing camera in portsmouth. I have the picture framed, in fact! (Anglesea road, iirc).

It's probably set up to catch traffic going the other way. Where were the lines on the road?

Someone driving the other way probably thinks they've been flashed. Laughing

And there's a couple of front facing ones in Portsmouth but I don't think they flash? Could be wrong though.

Guess I was wrong then. Laughing

I wonder what would happen if you got flashed then crashed because of it. I guess they would just blame it on your speed....

oh yes, it would be the speed, everyone knows if a human being travels beyond 35 and no more then 40 his eyeballs no longer work and he will deffinitly kill atleast 20 people. its the biggest crime dont you know....

speed kills brigade again unfortunatly.

on a bike i think it would be difficult to convict with a forward facing one unless u had a piss pot lid on and it was one of those fancy take a picture of your face cameras. other then that those eyes, squashed cheeks and half a nose could be anybody. like has been said, dont make a habit of it but i wouldnt worry at all.

Don't be fooled by the other posts, they'll find you, CSI style by zooming in on the picture and spotting your plate reflected in something shiny.

Sorry I didn't make it clear. I meant I don't think any cameras are approved to flash you head-on. There is a forward facing speed camera on my daily commute but it has no flash. Or at least it's never gone off when I've been past.

I'm sure someone In the know could clarify.

They use infrared cameras and light sources so they don't blind you.

Can still be used and are approved to bum you from the front if you are in a car though Thumbs Down .
