CBR600 Headlight Woe

Came to my bike this morning, sidelight works, low beam doesn't work, and nor does high, but my 'pass' switch does work...


any clues?

Bike is a '97 CBR600F3

Possible the switch - squirt a load of WD40 into it.

If your bike sleeps outside then it is likely to be water ingress within the switch that is causing the problem, as suggested above. If the switch can be opened up then it may be an idea to clean the inside of it as soon as you get an opportunity to do so.

It does live outside under a cover, I'll give it a try as soon as i can, seems the bulb is fine, just doesn't switch to main beam, high/low button does nothing too (obviously)

Covers only provide scant protection. If the bike is wet when it is covered up then you are trapping the moisture inside the cover and sometimes that can be worse than leaving it exposed to the elements. If you can obtain a breathable type of cover then the extra cost of purchasing same will be money well spent as the bike will be ventillated as well as being protected from the rain etc.

fixed it! little red connector behind the dash had come apart.... it took me 90minutes to get the clocks out... the screen out... the mirrors off... my god what a stupid place to put it.

90 minutes?! You need more practice! I can strip all the fairings off my bike in less than 30.

I tried to do it without taking all the front fairing off, needless to say it didn't go well :p
