Dear Bigblackjet,

As I am a successful business man I will invest in you.

I will give you 500,000 USD if you would be so kind as to give me your bank account number, sort code, mothers maiden name and the name of your first pet. After I have received the formentioned, I shall then transfer the funds.

To receive the 500,000 USD you will have to send me 300 USD by Western Union.

Kind Regards, Prince Tzumk of Nigeria.

Blimey, someone from 'noto' who struggles to comprehend that not not everyone shares their same viewpoint, and then responds in a pathetic and petty manner - we've never seen anyone like that on here.

Oh, actually, yes we have - your glorious leader, the alopecian eagle.

THE NO TO BIKE PARKING TAX CAMPAIGN
We the undersigned agree that all bikes should have to park in bays filled with abandoned wrecks every where, at all times. Anyone that turns up to a city centre parking space after 6:30pm should go home, after all it serves them right for not getting up early enough.

No matter what the common sense suggests that annoying innocent third parties will not help our cause, we will endeavor to try and turn everyone in the country we possibly can against all motorcyclists.

Lets help increase journey times and encourage the authorities to ACTUALLY treat us like cars, rather than vehicles that have to pay massively less than their four wheeled counterparts in relation to the space they take up.

Please donate loads of money to us to prove we are doing the right thing.
Oh and we might do some useful legal stuff or something, whatever, remember to do your homework everyone that disagrees!

The rest of your logic is really rather one sided and flawed - best ignored probably.
Maybe the rest of the motorcycling community is out riding their bikes with the time they have, or worrying about issues that actually matter rather than getting all het up about people not supporting bikers being rude over rather minor ones.

I concur, Templar seems reasonable... misguided, but reasonable. Is he not available today so they sent the YTS boy again ?

Face the FACT - You lose.

The majority of bikers in this country don't need to park in Westminister. Infact the majority don't need to park in London.
If you are that concerned use a bicycle or walk, i am sure you could do with the exercise Thumbs Up

If someone doesn't agree with you, it means they don't agree with you.

It doesn't translate to apathy.

Jumping to that conclusion just makes you look like a 5 year old who didn't get their way and resorts to name-calling.

Now you're just being obtuse. We don't *want* to pay for parking, but we feel that it is justified to pay for parking, and that arguing against paid parking spaces is futile and pointless.

I'd gladly give my council £100 a year if they could guarantee I wouldn't ever hear from the likes of you again.
Kindly look up the episode of BBC comedy "Outnumbered" which has a dullard coming to the door bleating about preventing speedbumps being installed by the council. That is you. You and your friends.
If I find a cause worthy I support it. Whether that is support vocally, practically or however. You know what I don't do? Change my mind when it's repeatedly shoved down my throat.
People disagree with your cause, get over it. Your opinion seems good to you, that's the definition of a fucking opinion, doesn't make it correct. For instance, I am of the opinion people should gain licenses before they are allowed to become pregnant. People disagree with me.

If city centre parking was free, it would be first come first served. Everyone starting work at 10 o clock would have to park 5 miles out of the city centre (fuck you, I have the right to exaggerate). Up until now I've had secure (gated, cctv, right next to watchman) city centre parking for my bike for free, but I accept that was merely a perk of the university and in future I will have to either pay for secure parking or park free, unsecured (Guess which one I'm taking). Security doesn't come for free, and I'd happily stick a few quid in whilst cheerily saying hello to the man watching over my bike for the next 8 hours.

^^The above may be a jumbled mess, my standards are dropping.

If I commuted to somewhere that didn't have it's own car park, couldn't get parked when I went in and paying the £100 meant I could much more easily park; then yes, I probably would.
Or might just use a free off-street car park and walk a little further. I'd have that choice, just as people in Westminster do.

But that's not the situation where I live, as I do park in a company car park, parking is not overcrowded and I can generally get away with parking a bike anywhere I want because I have chosen somewhere less congested to live.

I agree with a couple of points that have been made in regards to not wanting this made a national thing regardless of how congested the uk is but London needs it. It should free up spaces that are being used by people who don't need to park there and help with congestion for bikers.

What does the money that's raised through this scheme fund?

I must say I'm on the fence at the moment. I can see both side of the argument, but I just don't agree with the route they're taking in protest. You claim your trying to show the council how many people oppose this with a ride out, but a petition does the same thing.

I'm just getting bored hearnig about it now. Most bikers I talk to think it's stupid. Of the 100's of thosands of bikers in the UK you've rustled up 10,000 sheep.

When a better idea comes along, say when they try to increase the cost from £1 or if they try to apply it in places that are not congested, then I'll be out trying to do something about it.

I used to pay Westminster £70 a year for a parking permit so yes, I would. Blissfully wafting into a residents bay at a time of my choosing, returning to my bike to find it in the state I left it (not lying on the ground or with a Vespa wedged into the fairing)... worth every penny.

Exactly why I pay NCP. I roll into town for about 11am. Bike bays are all wedged solid by that time and I neither have the time nor the inclination to ride around for ages to get a slot, then schlepp some distance to the office.
