Oh noes, change it back, I hate forums with really small limits on replys per page, it makes it do much difficult to read, and you end up with so many pages that half the stuff doesn't get read.

Nothing worse than posting something on the bottom of a page, no fucker will read it after the next person posts.

Change it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It used to be pretty huge but some of the big long threads were loading pages very slowly recently. I'm trying out 10 and 25 at the moment to see how that goes.

I did fat finger it at one point and it briefly went to 1 per page... which was amusing Embarassed

Also individual birthdays won't show on the front page "what's on" box anymore since most days there are at least a whole bunch of people with a birthday. You can still click the "x birthdays today" link to see whose they are though.

Any particularly strong views on page length or similar feel free to shout 'ere.

Please change it back to 40, or let us choose how many to display like vbb. I cant stand forums where I have to constantly go to the next page Sad

I had no problems at all the way it was.

Fair enough with the heavy pictured threads, but you know that before you click on it.

Well it happily gets ride of always having to load up 100 images on certain threads when going back constantly to check new replies 30 - 40 odd times before they are banished to a new page so from that point of view you should keep it at 10.

That said, there are now threads with 291 pages Shocked

Are there no options you can add to the profile for the user to decide the page size ?

Unfortunately there's no way to set limits for individual threads (the ones with pics in) or specific forums, it has to be forum-wide.

I'm pretty sure with a little effort you probably could change that global amount per logged in user session from their own preference, but in reality I don't know how phpbb structures these things.

I reckon 25-30 would be a good compromise as it can be annoying sometimes when you load a thread with 1000 pictures to read a reply and the reply just says 'Yeah' or 'lol'

Hi

Afraid I preferred it with a large number of posts per thread page (think it was 50). 10 is way too small a number (think that is what Visordown used, and that was a pain).

Doubly worse with the board seemingly failing to mark posts as read, so you might have a shorter page load time but now have to view 2 (or more) pages before finding the new post.

All the best

Keith

In my opinion 10 is to low, I think 25 would be OK, I would prefer 40 or more!

40 was nice, I usually set in to 100 posts per page on vBulletin forums, but I know you can't change the amount of posts per page for a specific user here Sad

It is in the config table. Should be possible to add it to the user table and over write the default when a user is logged in (would need a change to the panel to update profiles).

All the best

Just change it so any thread where 'ste' posts you lower the limit (see "Whoever wins gets kama" thread)

BCF now caches a lot of things in order to make it faster and less prone to falling over, but the downside of all the cache voodoo is that certain things are set in stone right across the board (page numbers having to be one of them).

I tried 10/page for half an ahour and it's already pissing me off. I'll see what 25 looks like.

Failing 25, it could be a randomly generated number between 10 and 50 each time to keep as many people potentially happy as possible Thumbs Up

Chrome's 'automatically load the next page and show it at the bottom' helps though with the smaller posts per page.

My chrome doesn't do that?

You can get Fasterfox add-on for Firefox, that automatically loads the next page!
