I am currrently using spiceworks to conduct an audit of the servers on our network.

we have a number solaris virtual machines that we possibly cloned form each other, when spiceworks picks them up it see the same serial number and classes them as the same machine so it overwrites the details of the first machine with detail of the next one it finds.

Bios Version, Memory, Name ... changed on HOSTNAME1
Bios Version was Phoenix Technologies LTD 6.00 03/19/2009, now Phoenix Technologies LTD 6.00 07/22/2008
Memory was 1 GB, now 2 GB
Name was HOSTNAME1, now HOSTNAME2
Server Name was HoSTNAME1.MYDOMAIN.COM, now HoSTNAME2.MYDOMAIN.COM

IP Address changed on HOSTNAME1
Device Ip Address ChangedIP Address was 10.XXX.XXX.XXX, now 10.XXX.XXX.XXX

does anybody know where it would be pulling this serial number from so i can try and change it.

i have tried changing the serial number of one of them in spiceworks an then scanning another one but it still overrights.

all the windows VM's work fine as they all seem to have unique serial numbers.
