Abba front Lift Stand?

Hi.

I was wondering what everyone's opinion is of the abba front lift stand.

I have a ZZR600E and I need to change the front tyre. I have been looking at front paddock stands as I already have a centre stand on the bike.

Do you think that this stand is worthwhile for the money?

I don't ever like using dealers to do any work to the bike so I'm sure I'll be changing the steering head bearings at some point or fork oil etc.

Would there be any reason why I would need a front paddock stand if I got the abba front lift?

I understand that it wouldn't work on a bike that doesn't have a centrestand and I would need to buy an abba rear stand if I got a different bike.

What do you all think of it?

Does anyone have one?

My mate bought the two as a set from the bike show many years ago. He's since long term loaned me the rear stand.

The rear stand is good, very useable and sturdy on the right ground. I use it for my Hayabusa on my own with no problems.

The front bit, I havent personally used it mind you, he said worked ok. I just use something like a block of wood and a jack if I want to lift the bike fully off the deck though.

When you take the front wheel out most bikes will just rock back onto the rear wheel/center stand. short of that is a car jack under the downpipes and save your money.

As Jay says, save your money ( cos they aint cheap for what it is ) and get a car jack. That's what I use with my ABBA stand.

I never thought about the bike possibly sitting on the rear and centrestand when the front wheel has been removed.

Would one of these be fine as my mum has one in her car:

Just had a look at the abba site just see see the price of the lift. £55 fookin ell !

I use the trolley jack, you get them for about £10+

What your mum has is fine, will need very little pressure to rock the bike back. I'd use a bit of wood on top just to protect your bike a little.
Put your bike on the stand and try and lift the front wheel. Bet you can do it with one hand! I could do this on my HUGE Bmw Gs!

I'm thinking about doing my fork oil this weekend. No center stand, will just use a rear stand and 2 jacks with a piece of wood between going under my downpipes. One jack each side.

I just use 3 blocks of wood nailed together .... rock the bike back on the rear, and kick the wood under the pipes

As above, I normally use a bit of wood under the front. Bought a becker technik stand recently though and it has points on it where you can put a rope through, tie it round the rear footpegs and pull tight to get the front end up

Would anyone here risk my mums jack under the collector box and a block of wood under there with both wheels off?

My rear tyre just got a puncture I had to take that off and I'd like to make the one trip to the tyre shop.

When I had the front end off, I just stacked up some blocks of wood under the down pipes with the bike on the centre stand. Worked lovely

I have both the rear is a brilliant bit of kit the front is a waste as you can use other things to do it's job.

i have both the Abba rear and front stands.

the front imo is pretty poor as i have a block paving and the wheels just seem to stick in the sandy parts.

its ok in the garage that is flatter but not flat.

i'm not sure if i am using it wrong as i try to lift on the sump of my GSXR but its higher than the downpipes so getting a good footing is difficult.

TBH if i hadn't got a good deal via gixerjunkies i would just use a trolley jack

They do say that about brake lines, but, tbh, if they were that weak I wouldnt want to use them anyway.
