hello,
i,ve been given an 1993 suzuki ts50x and it has'nt been used for the last 6 months or so,and i want to get it up and running again.
its in great shape, just needs a good clean inside and out.
my question is how to clean the muck inside as i've been told that the oil/petrol can turn to jellylike substance or somethink like that.
how hard is it to do.
dont have a clue about bike but need to try and learn the hard way as no spare cash for proper job.
many thanks
all advice welcome

6 months is nothing in the life of a bike. Personally I would say clean the exterior as best you can then ride it and enjoy it. Its not that long before the bad weather returns, wait until then and see if you can find someone local to give you a hand with a complete rebuild.

Doing the work yourself doesn't make it free. Price up gasket sets etc before you start ripping it apart.

Start by getting yourself a Haynes manual for it.
Theres a 'Fault-Finding' section answers all these kind of things.
If you cant afford the £16 for THAT, then sell it, 'cos you cant afford to do NUFFIN with it!
Carbs are easy to clean. As are spark-plugs, and though at that age I dont think it has them, ignition points.
All covered in the Haynes, dead easy to do with a few basic tools and some common sense, and how most of us started messing with motorbike mechanics.
All the best!
