Finally, after 2 years of saving, I picked up this yesterday:

Good old Skyteam 110 Gorilla.

Current mods stand at, a Takegawa standard look exhaust and a Kitaco +5cm swingarm.

Just had new tyres fitted yesterday, however the headlamp shell is cracked and needs replacing. Luckily the bike came with a spare, a nice shiny silver replacement (this weeks job). Also included were some chinky mirrors and worn knobbly tyres.

Oh can someone please tell me if the choke is on or off? (yes I know I am a NOOB).

Looks similar to the carb on my 125, that would make the choke off in that position. Think its called a butterfly choke or summat. Get a picture of you on it, you know you want to! Laughing

Undo the jubilee clip that holds on the cone filter and look at the first butterfly. That is the choke.

You'll be able to see which position is open and which is closed.

Chokes off. If you look the little leaver holds it open, flick that the other way and theres a little spring on the butterfly that flips it shut Very Happy you can just see the small circular spring underneath that little metal plate.

looks like the same carb that was fitted to a 110ccc mini bike i just worked on for a friends 10yr old.
choke looks off in the down position.
when you pull it up, it actually feels like it has 3 positions, all the way down being off.
half way up & all the way up being on.
ended up puting a bit of hose in the carb slide to restrict it, bloody thing done over 50mph. Shocked
poor kid was petrified. (1st ever ride on a m/bike & he pinned open the throttle)
made me laugh when i seen the expression on his wee face, lol
cheers,
GAZ

I was considering making it into a custom bobber but as all my cash has just been spent on the bike, it will have to wait!

Not sure if I like the exhaust yet but its pretty loud (piss off the neighbours loud). So I may keep it.

Engine wise, the work has been done. Its been tuned and is good for around 60 I am told.

There is a dent in the tank but I am not too fussed. Feeling I need to get some of the Gorilla decals if I get source some cheapish. Not too keen on replacing the red headlamp shell with silver but I will see how it looks!

It's missing the battery cover too but I imagine I can find a chinky one pretty cheap!

Not had chance to ride it yet but it feels like its going to be a pretty thrilling ride from the little run I did up and down the path Laughing

I remember I was behind a guy on one of these on the Glasgow egg run.

He was cruising down the street on the back wheel and was so controlled. He was maybe doing 25mph.

I thought that was awesome!

Nice bike!!!

I'd love a shot of one sometime to see what you're like. Thumbs Up

I had my GPS reading 43 odd mph, 60 on the standard 110cc engine is a little far fetched.

They do pull quite well, albeit the gearing is short. This does mean that 2nd and even 3rd gear wheelies if dumping the clutch are possible.

A couple of clips of the gruntiness that is the Monkey!

www.ooracing.com and www.monkeybike.co.uk have the stock to build a bike from the ground up is you want anything and everything that may be missing or needs replacing.

they look good and go well, i got one last month but had to ditch the std shocks as they are just too soft and made the bike handle crap. so on with the new. ditch the std rear rack and light. put a grab rail on it and led lightl next is the extended swinger and handle bars.. new tyres then will be leaving it alone.. great fun to ride when the rear suspension is changed.

Those rear shocks looks the bees!

I prefer grab rails as well, however the luggage rack maybe useful so I intend to keep hold of it!

I managed to fit the silver headlamp shell last night and it looks pretty sweet. Got all the electrics wired up and everything is working fine. I think a bulb may have blown however.

Does anyone with an electric start find that its too weak to actually start the bike???

Also, when extracting the ignition barrell from the old headlamp, my Dad took to using a hammer and managed to knock out the key housing. This also means that while it still works, the bike can be started with any chinky like key Laughing! Just had to order a new one from OO Racing!

The little 6v battery is pants.

Kicking it usually is the best answer to be honest.

With regards to the light, it baffled me a little when I first got mine, the dipped and full beam will only work when the engine is running. When the engine is off, only one will work? I complained to the importer about this as thought something was wrong but as soon as some petrol was added and kicked over, jobs a good un.
