Basically been having a debate with a mate about a game idea I've been thinking about..
Arguably, the best games are Zombie first person shooters/third person shooters, things like Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil, etc etc so hows this for a game
Your a 'survivor' trapped on the UK shores, everyone you know is dead, and theres a huge wave of virtually unkillable zombies roaming the streets, no news on the tv, well, no tv at all.. just you vs the zombies, you've got free roam to do as you wish, anything you can use as a weapon, can be used..
Thought of this a little after playing dead rising, but rather than have a gay time limit you can spend time running around mindlessly killing zombies without worrying if you'll never be able to complete the game.
But thats another point to raise, perhaps make it a multiplayer online roleplaying game, with essential Non-Player Characters you can interact with to start 'missions' to discover the source of the outbreak and how to ultimately escape the island.
The other point is the zombies, none of this gay 'im a zombie so im slow and stupid' crap.. zombies should be challenging, zombie creatures, birds, you fuckin name it.. if its an animal that can be infected then hell yeah. Perhaps make one of the missions near/at a zoo.
Also the other players, remembering this is a roleplaying game, you can team up with other players to lead a zombie bashing bloodbath or they can provide some extra hands if you find yourself cornered... how funny would it be to see someone dash in with a baseball bat and knock down a few zombies
Lastly the act of 'sleeping' sure have some 'safe houses' but they should cost you an in game ability (cash/weapon/whatever) but also the ability to barricade yourself in any house... use furniture to your advantage rather than the old Resident Evil 'ooh i opened a crappy wooden door, i must be safe here...'
Anyway just me brainstorming but tell me would you buy that kinda game? ____________________ Bringing Classic Bikes Back Into Fashion

I highly doubt your CEO of SCEE but good luck with your idea anyway
I agree with you on a lot of points, but 1. the UK is far too massive to recreate, 2. I think the zombies should be quite easy to kill as per the whole idea of them, shot to the head etc., but there should be LOADS of them.
The online sounds great, but don't you think there would be way too many people if it was a sucessful game? It would be like the zombies were outnumbered. ____________________ Journalist, student, egotist.

Well obviously there would be focus on the main important towns as opposed to the whole of the UK, and different servers too.
I think perhaps the standard zombie should be a simple kill shot to the head jobbie, but whos to say you'll have a gun?? Thats one of the things that annoyed me with Dead Rising, american mall scenario.. ooh a gun shop! if you got trapped at a shopping centre here the best weapon you'll probably find would be a golf club...
Zombie animals would be a great laugh, imagine your plight when you realise you've come across a zombie horse, or even a zombie elephant at the zoo that goes berserk when it sees you and bursts out of its enclosure
It makes me wonder why this game has not yet been made, as all it needs is one of the producers to think 'thats a good idea' and incorporate it into the game.
Oh im not a game designer/producer im just saying a point, one of the first things i always see when i buy the latest FPS is a collection of 'zombie' mod servers, COD4 for example. ____________________ Bringing Classic Bikes Back Into Fashion

Sounds like a game I would play for a few hours, then never go back to. Where's the longevity in just wandering around killing zombies again and again?
Games like GTA and RDR are great fun to wander around without missions for a while but eventually you need to have a purpose otherwise you just get bored.
So if you design your game using missions, you've got Left 4 Dead - job done, saves you having to code it! |
