Have read previous posts of an R6 at 17 etc etc and they all came across farily negatively.

I have chosen this bike and legally I will need to restict it and the choice is mine alone should I choose to remover the washers at some point.


Completely and totally my 100% first choice of bike and I know that it will not be the same bike with its nuts squeezed but I am happy with that and at the end of the day it is still a bike that will go 80mph around bends so not something to be taken lightly.

Have looked on ebay, the internet in general and forums etc for restirctor kits but to no avail as that is the next thing that I will have to get sorted to keep the good ol' insurance company happy.

Have a VFR400 kit that I will have to sell as no longer needed so now have to try and source a kit for the R6.

Just wondered if anyone on here has a kit that they no longer need that they would want to sell as would hate to support the 'FI international' monopoly that they have with the kits as people seem to get obsessed with the whole certificate side.

Not sure how I would go about getting the proper measurements of the washers, depth, diameter etc to get them machine cut locally from somewhere so any tips/info/help would really be welcomed!

i think sickpup needs to look up the definition of 'ringer' and 'q plate'.

Was fine when i bought it. Then i was the owner so the rest comes naturally.

Is a 2001 R6 still carbs or were they FI by then ? If its carbed then i have half of a restrictor kit for it in my garage. If its FI then i dont.

Yep mines carbed fortunately.

You think I could send you something for that half of the kit if that is all you think you have lurking about?

I might possibly be able to use it as a guide to get another couple of washers machine cut.


Restrictor kit for the R6 does it just consist of 4 washers for the inlet of a throttle stop aswell?

Contact R6Paul, he had a restricted R6 that I removed the washers from. They also had some little rubber bobbins in the top of the carbs.

Give him a shout, he might still have them.

Gazdaman thanks for the heads up....Have looked for users from a massive list on the forum but couldn't find an R6 paul !

Loads of other related usernames but none like that don't know whether that was a known name for him and lurks around with a different forum name or what...

R6Jonny that would be great if we could sort something out with those washers.

With regards to restriction...The rubber bobbins that have been mentioned to stop the sliders moving where are they purchased from?
I take it they are only attainable from the original kits issued?
As would from the sounds of it have to fit these as well...so would it be a deadloss with just the washers because of the missing rubber bobbins?

I think it would still have some restriction with just the washers in it, however it wouldnt be 33bhp. It would be pretty expensive getting them from FI International. I would say just get some rubber tubing and cut it down so it doesnt let the slides open fully.

Trial and error at a Dyno session work?

Would be happy if some restriction initially to get something sent off to insurance company and then look further into getting hold of a full kit.

No chance of you having those rubber bobbin/tube bits lying around in a toolbox drawer somewhere? Long shot I know....
