Recommend me some sun glasses under £40

I'm not a big fan of tinted visors and have always carried a pair of sunglasses with me. But they always tend to be cheap ones and they always seem to break. (Today my glasses broke on the 2nd time putting them on).

The problem seems to be on the hinges, (ie cheap plastic). I have to push to get the glasses on to my head as my helmet is fairly tight. So I guess i'm looking at metal hinges. But I want a pair that holds tight to my face and doesn't flop down.

Can anyone recommend me a pair that will last and not snap when putting them on.

I have a pair of bloc billys that work nicely. Flat arms so they fit in your helmet easily, about £35 from john lewis iirc.

Have worn a pair of Maine wrap arounds since 1998, cost me about £15. These ones are all plastic and very flexible. I lost the rubber parts on the bridge of the nose after a couple of years so I then chopped off the plastic nubs that bore the rubber parts on the bridge. Kept them to this day as they are the most comfortable sunglasses I have ever owned, and still use them as my daily sunglasses for riding motorbikes. Hinges are still in perfect condition. Very unusual, I've bought several "spare" pairs of other brands in the meantime but none have ever lasted more than about six months before hinges break or lenses fell out.

Why not go for some frameless glasses? Would save on broken hinges.

i got a very good pair of sports glasses from lidl or aldi, came in a hardened case with replaceable lenses,yellow,grey & black, all the relevant uv certification etc.
they were pretty flexible & i keep looking for another pair, as i have lost mine, though i still have the case & the other lenses.
well worth buying, very comfortable under helmet,

Best ones I ever had were from McDonalds. £1.99 with every big mac. They were terminator ones as I recall.

Being from a big American multi-national, there was no part of them you could possibly injure yourself on. Even if you sat on them they just kind of popped apart and you could pop them back together again.

Lost them.

That said. If you buy yourself a pair of oakleys, you will see where the extra money went.

Davida have released a new kit, comes with clear, smoked and yellow lenses, wrap around bars that can be removed and replaced with a google strap provided, and it RRPs at about 35 quid.



Well recomended by my MOT man, he uses the smoked on the bike, the clear for clay shooting and the yellow for night fishing so he gets his use out of them and hasnt said a bad word about them, im getting some when I can afford it.

stinkwheel Well I just had my hands up a pigs fanny. Which makes your concerns pale into insignificance.

Before I got a helmet with an internal sun visor I used to use some polarised Oakley jobs. The only problem I had was touring Spain, we had to go through about fifteen, mile long tunnels and in my haste to get them off(whilst riding) I broke one of the arms. To be fair it was my fault, I couldn't see a thing and rather than pull over I was clumsily grabbing at them.

I unfortunately can't wear them off the bike as they just don't suit my fat head. I've got some Oakley aviators now.

Given that every pair of sunglasses I've ever owned end up squashed, lost or scratched to hell. I'd say the "Pound" shop is your friend!
