My zzr600 has been laid up and stored in open air but covered for 3 years. I intend to give her a good seeing to but have to sort starting problems 1st. I started it ok a month ago after flushing out old petrol and replacing. However it was very lumpy and erratic running (firing on 3 I think as one middle exhaust was cooler than the others and exhaust pipe pressure was uneven on right side. I gave the complete carbs to a friend more expert than I who cleaned them out. After replacing on bike it wouldnt start or fire at all (new plugs). I thought gunged electric fuel pump and replaced it (guaranteed braker yard one). No joy I tried pumping fuel into a jar but it just spurts now and then. So I fed petrol straight into the carbs via gravity. This time it fired but the engine screamed at full revs then died within seconds. Each time I press the starter it does the same. Choke is off. There is slack in throttle cable and idler is screwed to lowest setting without falling out. (Air box is off the bike) Any ideas what I`ve done for this to happen. Is the pump only supposed to spurt petrol and not flow, I expected to fill the jar but it didnt. Ive had many bikes mainly 60`s british and 1970`s kawasakis so I`m no stranger but the gubbins on these new baby`s is mind boggling. All hoses appear back to normal as I labeled them before dismantling. Thanks
