A couple of days ago I was thinking about things that BCF lacked in the form of threads that might be informative and also might help others when it comes to identifying (and maybe assisting) a fellow member. After at least 10 seconds of soul searching I came up with this idea. Granted it'll probably die a death but it's worth a try I suppose.

So, the idea is to inform others of any rides that you're gonna be taking and when you're gonna be doing them. Whether this is an organised ride out, a weekend jaunt, a tour or just a bimble to one place or another is up to you but it'd probably be wise to give your route (or at least the area that you're gonna be riding in), what bike you're gonna be on and what you might be wearing. This information could then help others to identify you and either give a friendly wave, beep a horn, post in this thread that they saw such 'n such on the A54321 riding like a tosspot or even help you if you're experiencing bike trouble (although I'm sure most members stop for stricken bikers anyway!).

What d'ya reckon? Complete bollocks or worth a shot?

Leaving Portsmouth Weds 7th, ferry to France overnight
Thurs 8th stop near biarritz, spanish/french border
Friday 9th into spain towards salamanca
Saturday 10th to albufeira, portugal via seville

Returning back to uk this sort of direction April 12th - 15th

It's a good idea IF I was the sort of person who made plans.

As it is, most of my ride outs are spur of the moment things, much depending on weather, and how my liver is doing. If it's having a duff day, I don't ride...(I daren't, as I make too many mistakes/become clumsy and sleepy on a fuzzy day).

I am not so memorable but my bike is...sv650 raspberry with purple highlights, single seater and stubby exhaust.

Well from 7th until 21st July between Derby and Turin look out for a Black R1100GS Beemer with a KTM LC640 fairing and lights, modified mudguards,tank panniers and a very dusty rider.

Off to do the Stella Alpina again and ride the high passes in the Alps

It's a holiday but with a wee bit of adventure riding,fantastic roads and scenery,dodgy border crossings( never use the Frejus Tunnel, the customs stop ALL non French registered bikes and go to town on docs, did it once to see what the tunnel was like ...never again,Switzerland can be just as bad) , great food and drink, interesting people to meet and you still have your house and job and a great lot of stories to tell down the pub when you get back!

Kind of pointless for some, all of my tours even the big one were barely planned, it was a case of oh that looks interesting lets GO! and to hell with the consequences.

Off next weekend Eurotunnel Sat morning, taking advantage of the overnight £22 bike offer from Eurotunnel.
Tootling down to St Omer and the V2 museum, then across into Belgium and Ypres, camping sat night. Last post at the Menin Gate.
Sunday upto Brugges, Osstend and the Atlantic Wall museum, bimble down the coast back towards Dunkirk and onto Calais where we'll be exploring the bunkers etc.

Budget fuel, camping, bit of food & drink £120ish

On the go basically from 2am Sat moring to 1-2am Monday morning all in.

2 x Green XJ900 Diversions & 1 Gold 650 Deauville.

I'm off on Friday to Porthmadog. Just staying one night at Barcdy caravan and camping park. I'll be riding to Abersoch as well and spending a couple of hours there and then riding on to Portmeirion before returning to the camp site.

Look out for me and my TZR around North Wales. Not sure about the route yet.

Think it's a good idea in theory. If you see a guy around the Hornchurch/Romford area of Essex on a blue RXS it is quite likely to be me

I'm also planning on attending at least part of the BCF BBQ in a couple of weeks. So I'll be heading from Essex towards somewhere near High Wycombe on Friday night most likely...
