Slip matt's in Wilkinson's

No idea if this is useful to anyone. I was told slip matt's are good at protecting the side of you bike when using panniers and stuff. Have also read Pound land is the place to go for them. Unfortunately they didn't have any in Pound land so I went browsing Wilkinson's instead.

For £1 in the car section they have small squares about 25cm by 25cm.

For £4 they have 30cm by 150cm sheets in the kitchen section.

For £4.90ish they have 50cm by 150cm sheets in the hardware section.

It is all the same material, just different sizes of sheets. Like I say, no idea if its useful to any of you, but you all seemed to have a use for slip matt's on bikes in one of the threads I read before.

Sometimes useful to put on your seat or even more useful, your pillion's seat, to stop any sliding about.

Need to watch where it's placed with throw over panniers though - it does melt.

Excellent I was looking to buy some after all the road crap that got under my tank bag last summer ridding back from a rally in the Haut Fagnes.

Rain like stair rods all the way to Ostend and the road crap got between the tank bag and the tank... now have a very dull finish on the tank, and a lot of small gouges from grit from the bag slipping slightly due to teh straps becoming soaked

They are useful for keeping the bag in place and not allowing it to act like sandpaper.

Based on past experience - buy the cheap stuff and ditch it when it gets dirty.

Also handy to put under your sleeping mat in your tent. Stops you sliding to one end if you have to pitch on a slope.

49p for a thin one and 99p for a thick one in Home Bargains in the same dimensions as the £4 item from Wilkinsons.

I've used some of this stuff underneath a magnetic tank bag, to protect the paintwork on the petrol tank.

got some on the pillion seat just streached it over and stapled it on the underside, been on over a year now but it does soak up water so cover it up with a carrier bag at night if the bikes got to be left outside.

I use chamois cloth for underneath the panniers, it stops slippage, and also protects the paintwork.

Wasn't gonna post this one but the thread seems to have come back to the top of the forum.

Found more of the stuff (though still no where as cheap as ms51ves3, I cant even find it near that cheap on the tinterwebs!).

Its £5 a sheet in Maplin, 2 colours, 45mm * 125mm, little bit more expensive than Wilkos but we cant all be blessed with a Wilkos near us.

B&M have slip mats, £1.99 (reduced from £2.99) for 1m x 1.5m
I have bought 1 for under our airbed for our trip in a few weeks and 1 to be cut up for under my tank.
