Right popped up town today to get my Pasties for the week! Anyway the town were i live has no bike parking on the high street at all, There is one park but its up a massive hill and im lazy. Anyway theres 3 cars parked so i just parked the bike infront know i was only gonna be 2 mins max. The only problem was i was just on the start of the zig-zag line area for the crossing.

Anyway so im piling pasties into my bag when i glance across at the bike and see a traffic warden there! Bollocks! Well i thought he cant of been there long so i whip my helmet + gloves on in the shop and go out, cross the road, run round the back of him jump on the bike go, one advantage of having a bike with electric start and no ignition i suppose! Anyway at the time i was thinking ahahaha! Win! etc but now im think balls! Probaly shouldnt of done that!

What do u rekon will happen? If he had time to take down my reg will i get a ticket in the post? As i dont think he had taken any pictures of it yet etc???

Anyway i will include a Street view and a obligotory (if not shit!) paint diagram

Nope. It's not the same as a police offence.

If your vehicle wasn't ticketed, you haven't been done. Really pisses wombles off when they're 80% through processing a ticket and the owner drives off before it's been 'issued' Very Happy

If they send you a ticket
Do the right thing and lie like f*ck

tell em you parked it off the zig zags and a car driver must have moved it there to get his car in.
happens all the time
Say the warden asled you to go back to his flat and thats why you had to rush away

You know, the usual stuff......................

In situations like this in future.

Run up to your bike/car , and just rip of your registration plate and then ride/drive off.

When its all kicking off or whatever, people look to get your plate, a good kick or pull and its gone.

A new plate is only £10 tops.

-----

Saying that speed is often the best thing in a bikes favour, i've knocked off a few mirrors over the years (Drivers pulling out). I don't hang about, I can do 60 in under 4 seconds, the chances of getting my plate are slim.

No. You tell them no ticket was served. Traffic wardens have to put a ticket on the vehicle or it doesn't count as having been served. My brother took a parking fine all the way to court on this point and walked out with a written appology from the traffic warden for lying about it. They were lucky not to have been sent down for perjury.

As an aside. Parking on the zig-zags is pretty dumb. It's the only parking offence I know that can get you points on your licence, you'd have been better off sticking it on the pavement or just abandoning it in the middle or the road or something, at least that's just a fine.

But then again,

sometimes they just carry on and complete it, then lie about issuing it.

I was lucky I had a good independant witness, but it still took six months to get it dropped.

Yeah parking on zigzags = 3 points - you'd be better parking on the path.

'Dangerous Parking' is a point-giving offence too I seem to recall, Stinkwheel.

For what appears to be a relatively small Devonshire town, i'm surprised to see not just one, but two Rastafarians on opposite sides of the road in your paint diagram.

You think?

It's best not just to post every thought you have as though you're expressing actual knowledge.

A vehicle needs to be ticketed for a fine to have been administered. They don't have the luxury of posting the fine just because it happens to 'make more sense' or it's 'more convenient' and less at risk of causing damage.

Re. this being an offence worthy of points. It's irrelevant since it was a parking attendant at the bike and not a police officer.

My friend got a similar ticket before. (double yellows). Warden wasn't quick enough to stick the penalty charge notice on my friends mirror. I, sorry "my friend" jumped on the bike and rode off without helmet etc..
After a month or so my friend got the ticket by post. my friend challenged it. Went to courtish thing and told them that the ticket wasn't issued properly. Accepted by the lawyer. (yes, they are lawyers, not her majesty's something). Reason is; As per the picture, Parking charge notice is not in the parking charge envelope. (he threw it on my top box and took a pic without my knowledge)
BTW in warden's notes it says "driver turn up, driver throw the pcn". Big fat liar!

When you say traffic warden, do you mean a traffic warden from the police department, or "traffic warden"i.e. civil enforcement officer from the council?
The reason why i ask, is because they'll be handled differently depending on who issued the ticket. Either way it'll be a code 99, which as mentioned is a 3 penalty point with fine, (only contravention that carries penalty points, parking on zig zags).

If it was a CEO then you won't get points, but you may get the PCN in the mail, with the help of DVLA

The zig zags are an instant ticket, so no observation needed, and if you turn up and ride off, you can easily get the ticket in the mail - it doesn't have to be fixed to vehicle if the ticket isn't printed.
In this scenario, i'd have probably tried to catch the guy, and plead like crazy. They can cancel it there and then....they may not want to, but they can.

Ripping off a licence plate won't help either, as assuming you have a tax disc, they'll get the registration off that - it litterally only takes 2-3 seconds to check.

If you get a ticket, obviously contest it - it's always worth contesting a ticket, even if you are banged to rights. Don't try and you'll never know if you would get off. The question is your approach - as it is an instant ticket.

I'd probably go with what was mentioned - a motorist moved your bike from the edge of the parking bay onto the lines so he could park. Although you are the vehicle owner, you parked in a bay legally. This will work better if there is no cctv over the zigzags Smile

Some people have mentioned just parking on the path. I do this all the time and have always wondered if I could get wrong. I do it everyday, if I go to the shop I'll park on the path. If I go to the shopping centre, rather than park in the car parking bay I just throw it on the path outside the shop. Could I get wrong?

Just spoken to a warden I know and he says that in the case of a drive/ride off while printing or trying to place the ticket they can send it out in the post.
