I spotted this today, now given that I spent most of the 80's & 90's wringing the neck of various two strokes, LC's, KR1S's etc. I thought this might be worth a punt, as a project. It's an '86 model going for around £600, I'd like to get it for nearer to £400.
So whaddayall think then?

They are quite rare these days, but parts aren't too much of an issue in the UK.
I've got the UK equivalent which is an RD350F2. Its the YPVS model which means it has reasonable midrange for a two stroke. The only issue you'll have is parts availability in Cyprus.
In the UK you certainly wouldn't get that for less than £600 at the moment, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the equivalent UK seller would be asking a grand or more though, particularly if its a runner.
The only downside to one in good nick is probably the brakes. They aren't fantastic, but can be made to work. I replaced the calipers on mine with a pair from a Triumph TT600 which bolt straight on. It has made a stupid amount of difference, and the brakes actually stop the bike now.
{edit] Oh yeah, and if the fuel tank is completely rust free, you could probably get most of your money back by selling it in the UK. You'd then have a bike with no fuel tank though, d'oh. Clean rust free fuel tanks are like hens teeth. Even in the UK.
I hope you do get it for not too much cash, and if so, enjoy it! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |

I fear that nostagia is kicking in, big time, I'll probably try and get it at the weekend just for the hell of it.
Parts availability here is crap, as you say, but I've just helped finish a mates project and sourcing parts from the UK wasn't to extortionate, postage wise.
One question I do have thoughis is this, the bike is an RZR, I've been assuming that all the parts are fully interchangeable with RD parts is this correct? |
