Hi all.

I was recently watching the 400cc/250cc race at the Cookstown 100 and noticed a trend in the models that the riders prefer to race. Ive noticed this trend in allot of other road-racing circuits such as Aberdare and obviously the TT when they competed there.

What I've noticed is that the most common bike are either Kawasaki ZXR400's, or Honda VFR/RVF's. I think I saw a Honda CBR400 at Cookstown, but was unsure. definitely had a conventional swing arm.

So basically, the bottom line is: Why are ZXR's and Honda V-fours the most popular, and why are there hardly any CBR400's? (i've never seen a FZR400 either....?)

Is it cost, performance, reliability....???

Cheers guys!

Thumbs Up

One of my friends is having a 1000 cc sports bike that has one of the great powers, and I bet you can not handle an amateur it.It is easy because you get better nutrition and reliable NC30/35 ZXR400.

Hi

FZR had a reputation for wrecking the engine (throwing the rods through the cases I think). CBR was designed as a cheap bike rather than something up to the standard of the VFR, and doesn't appear to be as well supported for racing. However they do seem to be raced. The ZXR was a common UK model and pretty good so make an obvious choice. Also plenty of VFR400s around, hence they are popular.

All the best

Keith
