Video editing software

I've always struggled to find something that's powerful and fairly straight foward to use.

I was using cyberlink power director for a while but it lacked quite a few important things I wanted.

What's decent for editing large video files, rotating the picture say if it was filmed sideways (cyberlink couldn't do this), adding in decent effects/transitions/text and a decent set out output extensions, avi, mpeg, mp4 etc etc

sony vegas, easy to use, very powerful and loads of effects/transitions.

Yep A pal recommended S/vegas a medium wieght editing softwere
it doest have the learning curve or cost of say Adobe Premiere
I've tried a few from wndows movei maker and various file convertors
and now have premiere
they all have 'wrinkles' and need plenty of practise I find

I grabbed a copy of Vegas and it seems simple enough to use for basic editing/encoding.

If you can find it get 'Magic Bullet' for sony vegas, nice plug in effects for giving a more 'film' quality to video.
