first bike 600?

hello done my cbt and past my theory just doing lesson now for direct access.

I am from a motocross back groud and the only bike than ran well for me was a yamaha so would like a yamaha as a road bike.. i have been looking at yamaha fazer 600 around 55 reg and newer. what are they bikes like.. i like the naked model..

as for gear/ helmet / gloves boots ect what would you all say would be best for me. dont want cheap but also dont want to pay over the moon

As for gear, buy the best you can afford. But spend more on your lid that the jacket etc.

Head is the most important.

As for Fazers,

Get a Hornet

I cant really comment on the Fazer, never ridden one, Look nice in black tho.

Got an 05 Fazer, they're fine, comfortable to ride, power if you want it. Had it about eight months, no problems really apart from some premature wear and tear due to previous owner not looking after it.

I've got an FZ6N which is the naked model, I absolutely love it. Having changed to it a few months back from a CBR600F, I found it to be very comfy to ride, agile, easy to flick about with more than enough power available for what I want. The single best feature is the underseat exhaust system, it looks great.

The only thing to be aware of is that the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) can fail on these quite easily which causes poor idling, loss of power, stalling, etc. I had to have mine changed.

Kit wise, don't skimp on safety. When I went to buy a helmet in particular, I tried on loads and bought what fitted me best. It turned out to be a £330 Arai Viper GT (sod's law), but it's brilliant and fits perfectly. Spend as much as you can afford on decent quality stuff, but in the case of your helmet buy whatever fits you the best, because that will be the safest.

i do love the r6s but i like my speed so would like to stay with somethink abit more slower that wont give me the urge to go fast plus i want more of a practical bike to get me places.

bigtruck i love the xj6 i did go to yamaha was going to get it on finance but want a cheaper bike to start with now..

I would be tempted to get a cheapo bike to start with. Less dangerous and when you drop it, it won't matter.

Good bikes could be CB500, ER-5, XJ 600, GS 500, Honda Bros, etc.
