What are some good films to watch after smoking up a bit?

There are two styles I'm going for: Harold and Kumar / Scary movie style, and The Matrix type films that make you think a lot and are impressively deep.

I used to find Colombo an excellent watch. You need to imagine that before every scene, Colombo has just smoked a fat blunt in his car. You didn't think they were plain old cigars he smoked?

As much as I like a giggle when stoned watching a film there is nothing quite like some brain food whilst baked.

Try watching...

2001 A space odyssey:- This film moves like an Arab in minefield with a bricks in his rucksack. But that’s the magic, it’s slow but it needs to be. The music and imagery this films puts out is just awesome. It’s a eerie, dark movie but without trying to be a horror/slasher whatever. If you don’t fall asleep by the end of it because you’re kained, the last few scenes will bake your noodle.

The Music Of Chance:- I mentioned this in the obscure films thread. Watch this bonked and you’ll get full enjoyment out of it. You won’t know why it’s all happening at first but you’ll like it. I really couldn’t switch off, I think I needed the loo for 20mins but I wasn’t gonna move. This plays out in my opinion like a really good book.

The Hitcher (original):- Rutger Hauer is just mind bendingly entertaining, yes these type of films have now been remade but nothing comes close to this. It’s all about timing and it’s all about the atmosphere, this has buckets of that.

Out of the funny lists though who can forget Space Balls. When stoned i think i had to rewind and play again but i was crying with laughter...that’s a all out funny film. Thumbs Up

Others that i’ve watched recently a little smoked up.
Falling down:- no explanation needed really
Little miss sunshine:- I really really enjoyed this film and didn’t expect to at all.
Waltz with Bashir:- It’s animated and about war, very deep movie, very deep. I had a lump in my throat during the final scenes.

The dude abides.

My fave Cheech & Chong movies are 'Up in Smoke' and 'Still Smoking'.

Also have a watch of 'The Harder They Come', 'Countryman' and (especially) 'Rockers' for a West Hindian ganja smoking perspective on life.

Thumbs Up

I've always favoured an 'Old Skool' Kung-fu (chop-socky) movie personally. It must be dubbed (badly) into English, and must contain lots of long, white beards and chuckling whilst stroking said beard.
Some fine examples:

Young Master & Drunken Master 1 (Jackie Chan)
The Buddhist Fist
Zu: Warriors of the Magic Mountain
The Prodigal Son

Not strictly a chop-socky, but Enter the Dragon is a fine movie.

'It's the dough, Roper, or else we gotta break something!'

Hells WindStaff is a brillaint candidate for that type of film, I still have I on VHS, even though I don't have a player anymore, you can't part with gold like that. Iron Monkey is a classic also.

There's another one called Ninja Kids, it ain't got no kids in it funnily enough, but it's crazy because there's probably 2 mins of dialog then a epic 15 minute battle followed by another 2 mins of dialog and so on, the martial arts is unreal though.
