Do you nod?

As part of being a biker, I always give a nod, wave, flash, whatever to passing bikers, but not everyone returns the sentiment.

So, do you nod, and if not, why not?

l think it is rude when someone does,nt nod back, bit like saying "good afternoon" to someone.

I nod but people on BMW's and Cruisers don't tend to return the sentiment. I was suprised to get a nod back off a 999 rider.

Well I nod to most bikers, unless there scooterists riding like hooligans in shorts, trackies etc, same goes for learners too.

Sometimes I nod and don't get one back, mainly from peeps on R1's looking down there noses at my "commuter" bike .

Anyway, seens as though I don't have a bike, I can't say I do nod. But when I get it, i'll be like the Churchill dog to every biker in town.

I nod and/or try to make eye contact to most people on two wheels, especially to learners who aren't on a scooter. Rarely get a nod back though, tend to feel being young and having "L" plates can put me 'down' a level in some bikers minds.

I nod, wave, flash or stick a leg out to bikes, scooters, harleys, customs, chops, trikes and all others of the lifestyle. If they don't reply then fair enough, maybe they will next time.

I sometimes wave when I'm in the car - now that confuses them!

I sometimes ride without leather trousers on because I only have a 1 piece suit which is useless for short journeys, does this meand that I don't deserve a nod from you? I'm still a biker.

OK, just read the other thread, and a small consensus seemed to think the bikes without fairings don't nod.

In my experience, this is far from the truth.

Riding a naked bike, I get ignored by a lot of sports bikes, and nods from the rest.

so, maybe people tend to nod to "their crowd", which is why you guys get a bad deal from non-sports riders.

I nod to em all, lets bridge the gap and nod whatever we ride.

Well I was going through Taunton earlier which is Ped Heaven, full of Peds, I gave another Ped Rider a nod, he put his finger up to me, fortunately the road was clear, did the U-Turn I have been practising and travelled the whole stretch at 35 MPH and stopped next to him at the traffic lights, they went green, I shouted "Prick" and sped off to the left whilst he went right...Teaches him not to mess with me, just because I don't have a race pipe.

Never been out for a ride and seen people on R1's etc in shorts and t-shirt?

I nod, but only if I'm nodded at.

Having the big ol' L on the front tends to mean most won't bother, and just nodding to someone who won't nod back is a waste of my time :p

Although I will nod to people I see about all the time. I even wave to a guy on a 'ped I used to see every morning on the trip to work
