Anyone else planning to get out this Sunday when the England Germany match is on?

It's meant to be a gorgeous day, a majority of the English population should be watching the match. Which should mean super quiet roads.

I remember back to Dianna's funeral the roads were so quiet is was unnerving.

I don't suppose it'll make a difference to Scots/Irish/Welsh, but saying that they might be cheering on Germany so it might be quiet also.

I have already planned a day out, going for a ride to Windemere with 17 yr old daughter, Keely on her 125 Honda Shadow, my partner Steve & a couple of friends. We are going to Kirkby Lonsdale first so Keely can experience Devil's Bridge as a rider instead of a pillion. The Lakes should be quiet enough for a new rider to be able enjoy the roads instead of worrying about tourists.

I was out and about on Wednesday during the match - there wasn't significantly less traffic on the roads, as far as I could see, but then it was a weekday so I guess lots had no choice. Definitely will be out there riding instead of watching the football tomorrow. We don't get enough perfect days to waste them not getting out and doing a few miles

Besides, England never win when I watch the match anyway

I shall be seeking roads outside of West London that are nice to ride along. Seems today I found out what makes a road good for cycling up doesn't make it good for riding a motorbike up

Was glorious today - and tomorrow is supposed to be even better. Who in their right mind would rather watch a load of overpaid prima donnas kicking a ball about and (inevitably) losing to the Germans, then being full of excuses as to why they lost, when they could be blasting round the freakily quiet roads on a 1200 Bandalabra (in my case).

This is where the bridge is. It is basically a car park near a bridge over the river and there is a snack bar and an ice cream van.

I'll be out in Cumbria somewhere in the morning with my OH, though I think my he has plans of watching the football so I might end up going out on my own in the afternoon to enjoy the quieter roads.

I can remember England's last match in the previous world cup, the roads were dead, bloody wonderful, except I was in a car.

Was at an Armed Forces Day yesterday, and stuck at work today.
Only got limited funds left after yesterday too, so it looks like the only riding I'll be doing this week will be commuting

Wish I could go out today, it's going to be fantastic weather. Unfortunately I have plans already, which is annoying.

I know what you mean about the traffic... on Wednesday afternoon I managed to breeze through the middle of Lincoln without so much as a set of traffic lights to stop for. It was eerily empty. Which makes a pleasant change from my usual commute.
