New to biking

Hey guys,

Been on the road since february on a little 125 marauder, and just got a kawasaki er5 for when I've done my tests.

Had two attempts at the Mod 2 now, failed first time for going too quick, and the second time for going a bit quick through another bend.

Can't wait to get the whole lot over and done with! Any advice for a someone new to the road?

Watch out for the cagers? Just keep your eyes open. Don't speed on your test perhaps?

Make sure the ER5 has good rubber on the front. I had a GPZ500 which is very similar and it became quite unstable when the tyre was worn.

Ride well within your limits whilst you build up experience. The ER5 is easly fast enough to get you into lots of trouble if you don't treat it with a bit of respect whilst you learn.

Also I heard that you should replace the oil more often than with other bikes, not sure how true that is?

I'd go with gfiandy's advice really, bikes have a rather forceful way of letting you know when you push too hard before you're experienced.

oh and be v careful on petrol forecourts. may have dropped my first bike when technically at a standstill
most embarrassing, someone had to help my overly friendly bike off of me.

Monkeyking I may have found that out the hard way on my 125... It made me slow down a little and relalise everything isn't a race!

Not yet dropped a bike on a forecourt, but I've got plenty of time for that one! Dropped it doing a rather quick 'U' turn in a cul de sac, not entirely sure how that one materialized!
