How did you feel?

After putting "The beast" on ebay last night, its given me a little sad feeling inside Sad Not quite sure why to be honest, i know keeping it is unrealistic as i have my new bike and its been sat out there for about a month untouched anyway. But still, i've learnt quite a bit on this bike and its taken me on 100+ mile trips no problem. I suppose i'll miss the suprised feeling when it actually gets me somewhere safely Laughing

So how did you feel selling your first bike then?

Rob Thumbs Up

Almost felt like I'd lost one of the family. Really sad to see it go, but it was unrealistic to keep it any longer. It was in quite a sad state at the time too, because it was a partially finished rebuild.

Plus the fact that the GPZ would have been jealous when pride of place in the garage was taken by the new bike Embarassed LOL

My 'first' bike was a Batavus Moped dug out of the back of a shed, as a non runner, I was told I could keep, if I could fix it, when I was nine!

I never sold it..... it was ratted around for about four years, getting ever more.... err.... ratty..... then when I was on holiday, *SOME-ONE* chucked it in a skip, during a 'clear-out' of 'old-junk'!

I was 13... I cried for a week... that WASN'T 'Old-Junk' THAT was MY pride & joy!

Shocked , Think i've made a dire mistake! Its a bit late to take it down now though. I'll have to make sure that the new owner is 'suitable' and put them through a gruelling interviewing process, a kind of, "what are your intentions with my bike" kinda thing Laughing

I ran my first Chinese bike in to the ground and the engine exploded!!

I didn't really care.

My CG? That I shall never sell Razz Laughing I plan to also run this bike in to the ground and am currently trying my very hardest. It keeps just taking on the thousands of miles seemingly with no problem though Confused

G: With my GSXR I do often effectively use it as a scooter with a clutch in town.
ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

Treated my first bike (XR125) as a tool for getting about and not all that much more.

Had no hesitation or qualms selling it - it was small, slow, unstable (compared to what came later), uncomfortable on long journeys at 'speed', and a little neglected when it came to TLC.

It was never a shed, but because of ignorance and indifference I never took much pride in it as I have with some subsequent bikes.

I felt a little sad, it was a quirky thing that got me mobile on two wheels. Bless its little mechanical foibles! I think I will be sad to see the XT go when I pass my test but I took cash out of my savings to buy the TT and that needs to be replaced sharpish.

just sold my 96 honda CG on ebay last week. the buyer came and picked it up on friday afternoon. watching him leave with my beloved CG was heart breaking, me and my wife stood in the the car park as we watched it disapeared round the corner, never to be seen again.

the wad of £20s in my hand did little to ease the pain, that bike was my very first bike. i had passed my test on it, spent weekends repairing it, had my first spill on it, in fact everything ive ever done on a bike was done for the first time on that CG.
"i should had taken more pictures" i said to my wife as the bike left with the strange man and his daughter who bought it, she hugged me and told me i would be alright, but i wasnt, I was upset for the rest off the day..

that was last friday..
today is monday and today i couldnt give a shit Smile
today im having to much fun looking for a new bigger bike Smile

You have no bike at all? Well that I suppose is a little bit heart breaking. You'll miss the fuel consumption too. Razz

Im dreading have to sell mine.

She's slow, terrible on fuel, and not the most reliable bike in the world, but i love her, and she tries her best to keep up with the 125's Wink

I suppose thats one of the things i miss too, although where the new bike does 30 less mpg than the 125, it makes up for actually being able to keep up with traffic and get upto motorway speeds in this decade Laughing

It was funny the other day, i went to overtake a car doing 40 in a 60 zone, as i moved over to overtake and put the power on i looked down to find i was nearly doing 85 Shocked That was a shock but felt quite good to be able to overtake these lot for a change Razz

Rob Thumbs Up
And yes, i did slow down officer Shhh!
