Basically, I bought my bike nearly 3 month ago and around the 2 month mark I still hadn't recieved the V5. So, I filled in a V62 form and got a replacement (free) a week or so later. Problem is today I got another V5 - not sure if it's the one I applied for, or the one the previous owner sent off for. Either way, it's identical apart from the 'Special Notes' part has "Duplicate Document" on it. What should I do with it Question

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

surely you would shred the original and keep the duplicate?
Id assume the DVLA will have a lost/stolen marker on the original and expect the real owner to have the newly issued duplicate.

exactly same thing happened to me some time ago, im always losing stuff & i usually have at least 5 or 6 bikes at once so lose track....
when i got the duplicate V5 & then found the original, i called dvla who told me to send back the ORIGINAL as it was no longer valid & keep the duplicate.
think i still have both..................

I tend to keep the old paperwork as sometimes the registration number is worth a few quid and the old documents may increase the value of the number particuarly if the bike or car is an older model. I keep all my old Green books as they also help to date/ age a couple of my old vintage bikes and if I was ever to sell the bikes the Green book helps keep their value up. But thats just me.
