stolen or tampered with?

I know this may sound stupid but when leaving my bike in public places, I worry more that the bike may be tampered with and played about with more than it actually being stolen, can you claim on your insurance if the bike is tampered with for repairing parts etc?

A "tampering" probably wont cost more to repair than your NCB/excess is worth tbh. If someone takes a bat to your tank and fairings then by all means claim but for the small stuff, fix it yourself and chisel the stinking gypo's knee caps .

Suggest using a cheap alarm, preferably one running in parallel with the bike's electrics (i.e. one that doesn't involve cutting the wiring up or taking over the whole electrical system). You know, one that when you unplug / it breaks, the bike still works.
