For those that don't know this is a documentary film about the events behind 9/11, the war on Iraq and the Bush administration.

Saw this today and even if only 10% of what Michael Moore (the director) alleges in this film is true, it would still be deeply disturbing.

I would urge everybody to make an effort to see this. It's easily available via the web* if you don't fancy paying to go to the cinema to see a documentary.

(* Michael Moore is on record as saying that he has no objection to people downloading this film as he'd like as many people as possible to see it)

I think alot of it is exagerated and baised on theory and assumption, much cannot be proved. It comes accross as a whole lot more convincing when you are subjected to over an hour of it Wink

Bush isnt evil, he is meerly a puppet for the people who told him they would make him look like a good presedent so long as he does as they say. same goes for blair, he genuinely did belive all he was told was true and that there was a weallth of evidence of WMD, they just had to get into iraq to find it.

Allthough much in the film was not based on fact, i am still happy to see it made as i belive the current US & UK government do just as bad if not worse.

Except, when they got there, there weren't any... funny that.

Michael Moores films and writing are ofcourse complete exageration, speculation, infact often nothing short of conspiracy theory.

He makes broad, powerfull statements as if they are fact, without any evidence what so ever.

I would contradict the original authors advice; Do not see this film. It is shamefull propaganda, and only compounds the allready gigantic pile of bullshit and exageration that is aka The Media.

I can't wait to see this film, I'm sure it will be an eye opener. It's not showing at either of my local cinemas but I think Col has downloaded it Smile

I would recommend a bitTorrent download. If you have an ADSL connection you can get a full copy in about 4 hours.

Check out supernova.org

In which case I would re-urge you to see the film and judge for yourself.

Broad powerful statements... without evidence... hmm, sounds like what you couldn't escape hearing about re. WMD and the reason we went to war.

Given that everyone already is forced to be aware of the propaganda machine put forth by the US and UK governments it seems only reasonable to counteract this by going to see this film as well. Propaganda from both sides is better than one-sided information.

Go and see it and judge for yourself.

On the basis that Moore himself doesn't object

(see https://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/5386.cfm )

I'm posting this info here. I'm sure a Mod will let me know soon enough if I've overstepped the mark.

Get a bittorrent client for Windows such as Burst! from here:

https://krypt.dyndns.org:81/torrent/index.phtml?action=download

and then use this torrent info file. Note this file does not contain any copyrighted data itself.

I have indeed downloaded this film today (from bit torrent, see www.suprnova.org) as its not being shown at any of my local cinemas. Boo hiss.

I'll let you know what I think when I've seen it.

I agree that propaganda from both sides is probably better than propaganda from one side, however, I personally take the stance that Michael Moore and the politicians are both such liars, exagerators and bullshitters, that the only way I could ever know the truth was if I was in a position in the UN, if I had visited Iraq, etc.

Since I havent done that, Im not qualified to make any judgement on the issue, and I most certainly believe that neither Michael Moore nor anybody who has seen his film, is in such a position either.

Two bullshit stories, bullshit everywhere, why bother trying to make your mind up about the truth?

Accept that you cant possibly know it - At least, not as a British citizen whos never been within 3000 miles of the warzone in question.

Since the alternative is to ignore all information, false or otherwise and stick your head in the sand?

However, the US government did try to halt to slow down the release of the movie. There must have ben some reason, whether it was related to the War in Iraq, September 11 attacks, or something else. The American first ammendment if freedom of speech. Although, not if it's against the governement?

No, true, but people are allowed to make their own minds up. That's what makes us individuals. Wink Giving us your opinion is just the opposite of tgabber's who started the thread.

When we stop doing that, they'll have won. Very Happy Wink

However, some of us in here may work or have been involved or have relatives who have seen what has happened and how it is happening and what is going to happen in the future. Just because you don't, doesn't mean everyone else doesn't.

Nah, Disney threatened not to release it, there was a hoo-hah over it's rating (it eventually got an R, the equivalent of our 18) but in the end, not only did it get a release but it topped the US box office in terms of revenue-per-screen.

Oh, and of course it won the Palme D'Or at Cannes.

Miramax were blocked from realeasing it by Disney, their parent company. Moore was forced to look for another distributor, which he found without a problem.

Exactly, i'm getting a bit sick of people saying "they tried to ban it! it must all be true!
But surely they would want to ban it if it were all lies aswell?

As with many i dont agree with alot of whats int he film, but i dont belive much of the properganda fromt he other side either Wink
